It won't detect a knife under an armpit, but otherwise works good.

We use it for security purposes . It is easy to handle and alerts to the presence of metal.My staff finds it easy and reliable and the public isn't offended when it is used properly. Thank you Garrett for a great product for security purposes.

This is an amazing metal detector. You do have to be extremely close (meaning like almost touching the clothing on a person while wanding them for weapons before entering an establishment), but this is a good thing when looking for weapons on a person. This has been a great enhancement to our security team, and would have gotten 5 stars all around, but they are very expensive. I think this one is a good deal, as they go for up to $250 on Amazon- but at $165 it is still expensive!

Very durable and accurate. This uses a 9V batter in the compartment near the handle. We use it at our door to inspect for weapons. So far it has been able to minimize the amount of items customers have tried to sneak in.

The package description should clearly state the quantity included. This was my second time purchasing, and I assumed it was for two.

This metal detector is useful in a security application. It is sturdy and has good battery life, however, the detection sensitivity is less than I would have expected. You have to be right on top of the metal to detect it. More than a couple of inches, it does not detect. If proper scanning technique is used, it will catch most weapons and certainly acts as a deterrent to people considering smuggling weapons.
