Great for pin bones
I bought this to use for removing pin bones from salmon fillets. It works perfect. You can get enough grip on the bone to pull it right out. No need to wiggle it back and forth (which results in tearing up the fish). Easily comes apart for throwing in the dishwasher. I'd take this any day over a de-boning tweezer.

Smart buy
Awesome buy my only knock on it is I wish it was a 1/3 bigger but it is such a great tool

Could be a bit larger or I could use a larger size, but essential
I can't imagine not having these to de-bone a fish. We have order 2-3 whole salmon this year and without these pliers, we'd be using regular pliers out of desperation. The jaws aren't grooved, which potentially could be an issue. They've worked fine so far and if it proved to be an issue, I may just use some coarse sandpaper to add some grip.I'd say if you are considering these, factor in the size alone since the quality is definitely there.

Wish they had information in English, and I don't speak Japanese
I'm so so on this product. I tried to get bones of cod out with it, and wasn't highly impressed plus all the information on the outside of the holder they sent was in Japanese. I don't know the Japanese language. If Americans are going to purchase this item, first of all they should be able to read a little about the product. Secondly, it would be nice to see explicit instructions to show how you use the product. It's just not that easy to use. I bought it because I know the Japanese culture eats a lot of fish, so felt like they would most likely know how to make a product that would be easy for people to use. Sorry to say, that wasn't the case.

Better than sliced bread
Finally, someone has built a better set of fish pliers.I de-bone a lot of sockeye salmon filets. Hands down these work quickly and cleanly. The tips still grip the bones even after they have loaded up with small pieces of salmon flesh. The curved tips easily grab the bones. They easily disassemble and clean in the dishwasher.Best thing going - I have used a lot of fish pulling pliers over the years and these are amazing.

Breaks easily. Spring is plastic and bends easy
Didn’t get to use this too much before it broke on me. Also had issues pulling bones because it just wouldn’t grip. Sometimes you’d get it, sometimes not. I would end up digging into the flesh too much. I’d look else where

Recommend
As a fish monger these made my life SO much easier. Pin boning snapper, red fish, salmon etc was easier than those tweezers your employer provides. Worth the investment unless you prefer hand pain 😆

Use for electronics repair
I use this as a hand tool in my electronics workbench. Should last a long time.
