I loved reading this book. Such a good story, I enjoyed getting lost in it.

I've loved the work of my friend La Pitoofa (Isabel) for as long as she's written fiction and had it published so well. This one to me is her best in recent years. One Chilean person in Santiago told me that she'd dismissed the work of Isabel, since it seemed a copy of Garcia Marquez. I almost threw up. Without pretending to be a professor of literature, I've learned especially within the past 12 years how to note more than most note. With David Cornwell (J. leCarre), he & I've corresponded including my pointing out to him how I'd realized that he was/is an impressionist writer like Stephen Crane, Eudora Welty, et al.. He agreed with me in terms of details about influences and work. One key point I've learned on my own as purported author is how art reflects personal life. Art at its best comes from what you know. Happened w. Dostoevski, Greene, Buechner, Joyce, and also my Isabel and me. Isabel, having lost her dearly loved husband due to divorce & then his death, found another friend for life. That's helped a great deal. We who pretend to be artists/authors are affected by aspects of LIFE. This novel is a keeper. Buy it. Read it. Keep it. It's a keeper. JPC

Es una narradora extraordinaria. Partiendo de unos hechos construye una novela que mantiene tu atención e interés hasta la última linea.

Se desarrolla en diferentes escenarios, países, circunstancias, pensamientos e ideales. Buena reflexión para la propia vida, como aprendizaje o como leccion.

One of the best Isabel Allende books, I read it in three days, could not put it down, it also tells an interesting historic event.

Excelente narración de la guerra española y sus consecuencias humanas

La novela no describe, alrededor de sus personajes, eventos históricos de la guerra civil española; hace mención muy vaga del aspecto social y político. De igual forma sucede cuando el escenario de la novela se transporta a Chile; la novela se centra en sus personajes hipotéticos sin hacer una integración de estos a la controvertida vida social y política de España o Chile

Este libro viene a confirmar porque Isabel Allende es una de mis escritoras favoritas de todos los tiempos. Hacia mucho que no leía nada de ella y fue gratificante leer esta historia en la cual amé a Víctor y a Roser y quedé atrapada con la historia de la guerra en España, del exilio, de Pablo Neruda y el Winnipeg, la dictadura de Pinochet y cómo esta pareja vivió horrores en cada uno de estos acontecimientos históricos. La forma de la escritora narrar estos acontecimientos es súper interesante y lejos de aburrirte, te atrapa y te impide soltar el libro hasta terminar.Me ha encantado, sin duda se suma a mi lista de favoritos.

A beautiful, moving and compelling novel, for me one of her best. Its themes include love and war and the sense of belonging. The two main characters are Spanish Republicans who flee Spain at the end of the Civil War and with the help of Pablo Neruda, escape a French concentration camp and make new lives for themselves in Chile - until the coup by Pinochet. The novel covers a big chunk of twentieth century history but the characters and their story and how history determines the course of their lives is what keeps you turning the pages.I loved it.

Loved it! Most enjoyable book of Isabel Allende. Loved it more as it was so significant to my Family s past. La Reina del Pacifico, a vessel which brought my beloved father to Peru 🇵🇪 and to my mother. Remembered so many events my father told us during the Civil War.

Sorprende el sugerente y metafórico título , así como la creación de personajes - algunos históricos - tan atractivos y apasionantes.La acción narrativa nos sitúa desde1938 hasta 1994 en un contexto histórico de guerra , golpe militar, campos de concentración y exilios diversos en distintos escenarios : Barcelona, Chile y Venezuela.Ideas más significativas: el amor, el destino , la compasión y la solidaridad; ante todo la búsqueda de la paz y de la libertad.Fluidez narrativa y exaltación poética.
