Allow me to preface this with the fact that i bought this exact product for $1.00+tax at a brick-and-mortar Dollar Tree.I cannot begin to tell you how many times I've been admonished against using dollar-store permanent hair color, mainly because I suck at math. Forget the nay-sayers. This black dye is amazing, especially given the price, the coverage, the end result, and the ease of application. One box is enough for those with short to medium-length thin-to-somewhat-thick hair. Thicker manes and longer locks will likely require an additional box; if you are Rapunzel, I suggest a pallet of boxes. The product comes with developer, dye, thin plastic gloves, and a folded instruction sheet. No conditioning packet is included, so keep that in mind. As well, it would be a good idea to purchase a package of shower caps and disposable cleaning gloves also, as the included handwear will likely last the initial application only. The coloring experience is very similar to the boxes of bottom-shelf permanent color available at big box retailers. My color turned out fantastic. However, as with any at-home dye job, this procedure is extremely drying, so it'd be a good idea to buy some deep conditioner and slathering that on your tresses after you rinse all the color out, or else your locks will feel as if you've been taped in Death Valley during a heat wave. I used this product hesitantly as my husband is a professional hair dresser and he usually colors my hair with top end professional color which I have been doing forever but we were in a pinch and picked up a box at dollar tree... I was so impressed with the product and so was he... He never thought that this would have come out so vibrant and shiny not to mention the professional products always irritate my scalp mildly but this product had no irritation at all and rinsed off my scalp very easily compared to the professional product. I recommend this to anyone in need of a dye job.

I was really scared to use this since it was only a dollar, but to my surprise it works amazingly, I have thick long hair so I had to use 2 bottles, I used the medium aburn... I only left it in for 15 min even tho it said 30 min but it turned out perfect!

Im a hair dye snob that has been dying my hair black for over 8 years. I spent 30-40 bucks one to two times a month on hair dye...I used pro stuff at beauty supply stores... and my roots would fade quickly. I was hesitant to try hair dye thats carried at the dollar tree but I was amazed. No burning or itching, easy application, instructions....I have to get two boxes for my length hair but 1 will touch up roots no problem. This hair dye holds color the longest out of all I have used. John freda, loreal all the box brands and the bottles at Sallys beauty supply I have tried. The black is a vibrant deep black with a natural look and gloss and I love it! You cant beat the price at the dollar tree! I was most impressed with how long the color lasts.

Covered my grey perfectly and I love the color but it is full of super toxic chemicals. I never had dandruff in my life and after using this product I have super severely dry flaking scalp. It’s so embarrassing and it permanently damaged my hair and scalp.
