The good, bad and ugly
Ok, I'm old school been riding since the 90's guy. At some point, it was decided that road bike kits were goofy looking on trails unless you were racing. I agree and early on started wearing baggy shorts so I've been through all the changes good and bad.The Fox shorts (I've owned several pairs) are good but fall short of great.Likes:1 Come with a decent inner short with a good chamois. I like the TLD shorts better and feel they are better made but they don't come with an inner making me buy a pair of lycra road shorts or wear these. Surly the bruhs arent riding commando? If so, respect but no way I can ride without a padded short. I tried a Pearl Izumi baggy short that came with a super cheap crummy liner, barely good enough to ride around town. The Fox inner is very good.2 Look good, the styling is good. Sutble logo that doesn't make me feel like a billboard.3 Pockets, not useful for riding but handy to carry wallet and keys pre and post ride.Dislikes:1 Confusing sizing chart... So according to the size chart, a 34 short has a 36 waist? Huh? I ordered the 34 size and can say they fit snugly on my size 33-34 waist. No way they are a 36. closer to 32. So order your size based on your normal waist size.2 Cheaper material and construction than other brands. No zipper or velcro in the fly, just a single button. I hope it's a good one as it's all that keeps them on.Time will tell how they hold up, although my last pair have held up reasonably well and these look on par with them. I'd love to see Fox bring the features up to the level of the competition but still a solid short.

Great cycling shorts and very comfortable.
I initially got the black one and I really liked using it. Vey comfortable and does not restrict movement. Decided to get the this blue color as well.

Not bad
Would have been nice to know that the shorts don't come with a zipper at the front snap.

Adjustability lacking
I bought these and also have other ranger shorts, my other ranger shorts have a more adjustable cinch to make the fit tighter. These are ranger as well, but the cinch is 2 sliders on the backside,so there is a limit to how much tighter you can make the fit. It's not a deal breaker, just get a size closer to what you want so you aren't limited by the lack of cinching. I'm 5'11" 178lbs, I got 36, 34 would have made the cinch issue no problem.

Good shorts, but could be better
These shorts come with three pockets, one of which is a zipped left thigh, which if you’re lefty like me is a huge plus as a lot of clothing is right hand biased. This pocket is roomy enough for a wallet and keys, so long as you don’t have too many frills to your keychain. The other two pockets are incredibly deep, athough the openings sit rather high up so can be a little difficult to get into when on the bike. I suppose this has the benefit of not accidentally letting your things pop out.The inner shorts have light padding and the material is not the best but still good. They’re nice to wear on hot days, and since they’re not attached to the main shorts you can mix and match as you please. The shorts secure with a button, which occasionally pops off. There are no belt loops, but have two side adjustment straps for the waist. One other feature that’s lacking is a zipper at the crotch. I thought this was weird. You basically just wear these shorts as though your fly is perpetually undone.Overall they’re good shorts I just wish they secured differently and had a zipper or something.

Good shorts but consider buying a size up
These are nice shorts. Feel durable, comfortable, and look good too. The length goes to just below the knee. They come with a padded liner(underwear) attached by two small straps that can be cut if you wish to use your own or if you don't want to use them at all. I personally cut the liner so I can use them casually while not riding.I wear a size 36 for most shorts/pants. I ordered a size 36 and 38. The 36 I could barely button even with the straps loosened as much as they would go. They were also somewhat tight around the thighs. The 38's fit much better but a little loose. With the straps tightened it's okay and I've been riding with no problems. I recommend going a size up if you're going to buy these.

True to size, look great on/off bike, comfortable.
I am 6'2" 185lbs. Size 34 fits me great, and they seem to fit the same as all of my other size 34 shorts/pants. In my opinion, these looks great and can be used for casual wearing. They are secured with a single button, and I have had no issues with the button coming undone while biking. they have high and deep pockets, and I don't feel like my keys will fall out (maybe unless you are doing backflips or something). They are decently long and are a really 'normal' length, falls at about my kneecap while standing. The material seems to be strong and reinforced (I'm not a clothes material expert, but they seem to have a subtle 'criss-cross' sticking that seems really durable. These are probably my favorite pair of shorts, on or off the bike. The 'FOX' logo is quite a bright orange, I like it, you may not if you have a more subtle style.

The snap button comes undone on the bike a lot
Like the title says: the snap button comes undone when I'm riding on the MTB all the time...and then my shorts are falling down. There is no zipper, so when the snap comes undone, that's it. Otherwise, the shorts are fine but nothing to write home about. The pad it comes with is so lightweight as to be almost not worth the effort to put it on. While I hated the zoic ether shorts (zippers broke quickly on original and warranty replacement), the zoic ether essential liners were great.
