Pilot Kneeboard for Aviation – Aluminum Knee Board Clipboard with Strap

Great minimalist kneeboard for small spaces. Great first kneeboard for a student pilot. If you use kneeboard mostly for copying down clearances, this is all you need. Also good for recording performance data during flight testing. Holds a 5x8 inch paper pad just fine, and holds a common stick pen in the clip. (A component of the wire bail that holds the pad of paper is a sturdy plastic clip that holds the pen.) Velcro takes just 10 seconds more to wrap around thigh than some others, but stays put on my thigh better than most. No "cordura flap pockets" to hold charts or an E6B, but those are pretty much museum pieces now.

I started working on my private pilots license a few months ago, and had contemplated getting a knee board for a while and finally pulled the trigger on this one. For anyone that has put a headset on and listened to the tower, be it GTC or ATC, at least one time knows that they can tend to spit out information very quickly, at times, making it difficult to remember what was said. You can add a simple, small notepad and pencil on this knee board and quickly write down the information given such as a heading, what runway you’re supposed to cross over, taxiway, etc. pretty much anything you can write down lol making it substantially easier to repeat back to the tower. I also like the fact that the knee board has information directly, applied to it, that you can reference such as glideslope information pertaining to altitude/sectors to fly in and more. Again working on my private pace license and also cleaning aircraft for customers I cannot tell you how many times I’ve seen random pieces of paper crumbled up with Different frequencies, written down, headings, etc. that somebody writes down on whatever they can find. With the simple set up, you’re able to hear the command, write it down, then repeat it back to the tower or whomever it is, you are speaking with and reference back to it if need be. The Elastic and Velcro appear to be very solid with plenty of give, yet enough elasticity to adjust it so that it fits and stays tight right where you put it. It also looks sharp and is well made. I’m sure this review is overkill. I just wanted to make sure that people had a good overall review. I hope this helps and happy, safe flying!

I'm very used to this kneeboard for about 20 years. The original velcro strap finally stretched and wore out. I didn't see a replacement kneeboard that totally fit my needs so I researched for new straps. This is 1-1/2 inch wide and was what I needed. Plenty of length and stretch for your leg unless you are an NFL Left tackle. You thread the velcro end through the buckle piece and secure the velcro. Fits snug as it should. Price might be a bit high, but couldn't find an easy replacement. Quality seems good, and I am pleased with the purchase.

Aluminum kneeboard with helpful points of knowledge silkscreened on the face and a fairly heavy duty strap. It made for 5x7 note paper and compact enough for more limited space great for jotting down freq. changes and squok codes. Especially, if you’re flying stick or yoke.

Well designed elastic belt with plenty of velcro, and a plastic buckle to take the tension. Since the belt goes behind the aluminum clipboard, it won't lead to pencils poking through paper notes. Good friction, the belt doesn't let the clipboard slip around and it doesn't constrict your leg like a tourniquet either.

Great product!

I like to use my iPad but my instructor is old school and asked me to buy one of these but it is not too big or too small.

So, I was told by my CFI to buy one of these and this was the first thing that popped up on the list when I searched “knee board”. Upon its arrival there was not a strap in the package, however, the seller was nice enough to send a second one free and allow me to keep the mistake package. Trust that if something were to go wrong with your order that your problem will be dealt with. The product itself is pretty sturdy, I bought a 12 pack of 50 page notebooks from Amazon Basics to take ATIS/AWOS results down for preflight and am using an erasable pen which fits snuggly into the pen holder. I recommend this to anyone just starting out as this is relatively inexpensive and is durable enough to last you years.

Great quality replacement strap

A few flights into my PPL and got this cause I suck at radios. Hopefully not too many "Tower, say again" in my future lol. The board is sturdy and the leg strap works.

Excelente producto

Its compact size is what’s desirable in a small cockpit. Clip is very strong but you need a small pen for the holder.
