Patient Advocacy May Not be For Everyone - Is it For You?
This is the 2nd book of Trisha Torrey's that I read and it cemented my determination to pursue advocacy. She gives us all the tools: the who/what/where/why/and how to get started advocating for oneself and possibly, others. Torrey, with the help of a dedicated group of other professionals, created and developed The Alliance of Professional Health Advocates. This organization, and the wealth of information available to its members, is inspiring. The tools to first determine if Patient Advocacy is the right choice for you, and then the tools to successfully operate and run such a business are there for the taking.

Reviews were correct
The reviews that likened it to a large pamphlet are correct. It's interesting but much of the info can be had elsewhere. I couldn't recommend it as a purchase. So, as a CONSUMER advocate, I would say that you can do better. But you should get a second opinion.

A Must Read
This book is a must read for ANYONE considering being a patient advocate. It helps readers determine if they might make a good patient advocate and reveals both the benefits and the challenges of this relatively new occupation. If you genuinely care about others and want to serve in this way, then you'll want to investigate patient advocacy and this book is a great place to start. Highly recommended!

Good, realistic information!
The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because most of the links in the e-book don't work, but it is a great starting point if you are interested in becoming a patient advocate

Better to know now than after I put a lot ...
Very descriptive. Saved me a lot of stress because i learned that this is not for me! Better to know now than after I put a lot of time and effort into it.

Not worth it!!
I was very surprised at how thin this book was but more importantly how little useful information there was. I bought this book to get concrete information. Very few resourses listed. In one place author mentions as of a 2015 there were 5 companies that hired advocates, allowing them to work for someone else, yet independently at same time. Yet she doesnt bother to list the those companies. Very little useful information for almost $15. Go on line.
