Austin Air A250C1 HealthMate Junior Plus Air Purifier, White

This is my third Austin Air junior purifier. I've had my first one for almost seven years. It runs on high all day and night. What a fabulous product! It cleans the air, provides minimal white noise, and is a durable product. I've never had an issue with it. It is a bit more expensive than many "comparable" purifiers, however do your research. You'll find Austin Air provides one of the best options for multiple air contaminants. We just purchased a new home and bought 2 additional units to help combat VOC off-gassing in the new building materials.

I have had an Austin air junior for twelve years or so. It is a real work horse. It cleans well and is quiet. The filter is easy to change. I recently purchased an Austin air junior plus for a vacation home.

I should have listened to a couple of the reviews that stated that this buyer is selling old units. They might be new but the units have been sitting for a while. When I received the unit, days after using it, I noticed an odd smell coming from the unit. I researched on Austin Air's website and it stated that the smell happens when the air filter needs to be replaced. Obviously I had just purchased the unit, so I contact the Seller about this. After lots of back-and-forth, they said that I needed to contact the manufacture. When I did so, the Austin Air rep advised me that I needed to return the unit to the Seller. He said that the smell is indeed from the filter needing replacement. I explain that I had only had for a couple of weeks and purchased on Amazon. He stated that unfortunately b/c I purchased from Amazon, then they could not assist and suggested I contact the Seller. He said that this is very common when buying these units on Amazon b/c Sellers tend to improperly store the units for too long. Long story short, Amazon and the Seller refused to do anything. I got stuck with a unit that required me to spend more money for a new filter. AWFUL!!!

I gave this unit 3 stars because of delivery/packaging issues rather than the quality.My Amazon purchase had to be sent back because of a dent in the side and on low speeds the thing sounded like it had a gremlin living inside. Not acceptable in a bedroom at night. A second unit was purchased from a reputable seller online and that unit also had damage from box being crushed in. Since it ran quietly I decided to try and push out the dent. This turned out to be an easy quick fix. I was pissed that I had to do this. An email was sent to Austin Air about the sub optimal cardboard bracing inside the box. The larger 400 models ship with Styrofoam bracing and seem to do much better according to Youtube videos. Cardboard bracing just crushes and rips allowing the units to flop around inside. One good hit to the outside of the box and you've got a dent.Don't expect any customer service as they just sent me a canned response saying a salesperson would get back with me and they never did.So in summary, great unit one of the best out there. Unfortunately it is a roll of the dice getting an undamaged one delivered.

This is my 3rd Austin Air purifier to buy. We've used them for years as a couple of our family members suffer from allergies. These do a terrific job. We even keep one in the basement to keep the air fresh down there as well. The filter is a bit pricey but only need replaced every 5 years. I have been very happy with the quality and most importantly, less allergy symptoms.

Item arrived without any problems. We got the white Junior Plus. I can't say 100% for sure as I'm not doing an allergy count but our large Master bedroom had the cleanest most fresh smelling air. We'll cook something in our open floor plan kitchen and the whole house will stink. If we close the master bedroom door and turn the unit on high, it's fresh smelling within an hour. I was concerned about the cost but now we are saving to buy a full sided unit for the living room/kitchen area. And hopefully we really won't have to buy a filter replacement for 3/4/5 years. Then it will be an excellent deal.

I bought this after installing some new carpet in hopes it would help with the off gassing. Unfortunately it seemed to just be sucking in the bad air from the floor and blowing it around the room, making the smell even more prominent. I never tested the air so I can't say for sure how well it worked as a purifier, but it definitely didn't help the air in my newly carpeted room smell any safer to breathe so it will be getting returned.Also, mine too arrived with a dent, but it was at the top and I think it probably didn't affect the function of the device.Oh, and it made the room freezing cold, too, so maybe better to use in winter?Anyways, considering the price you're paying for the thick carbon filter and the treated carbon filter, this machine was pretty disappointing.

I have the Health Mate Plus Which is a good value for the money. We have a smaller bedroom for guests, and we decided on JR model which works perfectly there. This anti pollution model is perfect where you have smokers or industrial companies near you. We both. I would definitely recommend it.
