My perfect sheath knife for every day anything, almost...
My small bird and game fish knife also came with loose scales. I attributed it to neglect in the box. Follow me, here. Due to the petite stature of this knife, and handle, not wrapped in plastic, the blade wrapped in a cardboard safety sheath, stuffed in a dry cardboard box, all, next to a dry leather sheath, whatever moisture the scales had in them at the factory would have been sucked right out of the wood after 6 months, or less. It would be similar to packing it in pure desiccant. So the first thing I did was wrap it in a vegetable oil soaked paper towel overnight. It snugged up some, but not quite tight, so I took it down to the shop and with a tack hammer and a flat punch, I tapped the rivets twice each side, and walla!! No more twitchy scales. For me it's a perfect size. I have gotten leery of folding knives in my senior years, having one fold up on me in my somewhat shaky hands. This is the size of a pocket knife, and it can't fold up. It has a sheath that is perfect. It was sharp out of the box, but my ceramic stones made it better, lol. I may customize the handle later after a month or 2. It may be a little small for me, but the blade and knife as a whole, I can pull it out in mixed company, and not scare the Jesus out of everyone to open a box, you know, like a Bowie? LOLI am debating whether to force patina, or let it come natural. I have had a couple of camp knives I wanted to let go natural, but they started getting ugly, (to me), so I went ahead and forced them with mustard, and cold bluing... so I will wait to see what the design starts looking like....

Good value, ok fit
Partial tang utility/prep knife. Would be good starter option for a bird&trout.Fit on the handle is loose, there’s a 1/16” play/wiggle front to back. Either re-install the handle (rivets out, epoxy in, rivets back), or re-handle with better fit. I guess this’ll be project for a rainy day sometime 2040 or so.Blade itself takes edge nicely. Haven’t really used it as the loose fit annoys me.Came with leather sheath: sturdy (about 7-8oz top grain), little loose. Has inner liner to mitigate edge wear on the sheath.

So much potential unlike ontarios quality control
Firstly the blade was loose ,second the handle Hadley was cracked right out of the box . I mean its a 20 dollar knife but jeeze ontario ,have a little more pride in your work. It's a fantastic design . I fixed all the issues myself but I should not have to. Where are the great American knives I watched my grandfather use ?

Best knife ever
You will not get a better knife in this price range. Yes, you have to oil the blade, it's known as taking care of your equipment. Takes a shaving sharp edge with ease and holds it.

Not a camp knife
I was looking for a small knife with a sheath for typical camping uses. The sheath is nice but the blade and handle aren't up for the tasks of whittling sticks and basic camp uses. I have since relegated the knife to my work desk to cut up an apple each day at lunch.I've always been a fan of Old Hickory and love the butcher knife, but this one isn't worth it.

Contrary to some reviews I've read
Contrary to some reviews I've read, my knife came with solid (not loose) scales. I polished the blade, forced a patterned-patina with an orange, oiled and sealed the handle, and ended up with a very classy looking panfish knife. It works great for smaller fish and even light utility work. Of all my knives, this is by far the easiest to sharpen and get shaving sharp. I'm very happy with my purchase. My only wish is that it was full-tanged. Of course, any application that would cause a tang issue is inappropriate given the intended use, but it's a personal preference.

Garbage
Pitifully cheap. Handle is significantly loose and came dull. Returned.
