Don’t waste your money on other herbal books just literally go ahead and buy this one. I know the other ones are pretty but this is the best book I have seen in over 10 years. I added a photo of what the ingredient list looks like there’s also great appendixes great glossary for different folk terms. Literally, I would not get any other book now this is my only trusted herb book. Besides the witches circle.

This book has probably been the most used book in my personal practice. While it’s more popular among Wiccans, any witch can find it useful, especially beginners! I was given a copy years ago and bought this one to give to my friend who’s recently started practicing. The first thing I like about this book is how it’s quite comprehensive, despite being beginner friendly. It has a lot of different plants and their coorespondences both in magical and mundane applications, and the glossary in the back is perfect if you just need a little something without looking through the whole book. If someone told me they were getting into witchcraft, this would be the first book I recommend. I use it just as much now as I did when I only had it.

Needed this book for my collection and herbal knowledge! It’s great

I purchased this encyclopedia to deepen my understanding of herbs and their various uses, and I was honestly surprised by just how many species are covered. The layout is incredibly user-friendly, with everything listed alphabetically. Each entry is surprisingly detailed, providing not just the common name, but also folk names, gender associations, ruling planets, elements, and associated deities. What makes this a "must-have" for me are the specific sections on the powers and magical uses for each plant, paired with intricate illustrations that help with identification. The back of the book is just as valuable as the front; the tables and appendices provide a quick reference to certain topics, such as herbs used to maintain health or the alternative names an herb might go by in ancient folklore. It even includes a list of resources for ordering supplies, which is so helpful for homesteaders and practitioners alike. This is a classic for a reason and truly belongs on everyone's reference shelf.

I personally practice Hoodoo, therefore if I had known that this book was Wicca/Pagan based I definitely would not have bought it. I only bought it because of the many good reviews & recommendations people have given me for it. However I do still like the book & I still chose not to return it since it does have uses for certain ingredients that are not technically used in Hoodoo, therefore if I happen to come across something in my backyard that I might want to use I can always double check this book to see if there is a way to utilize it somehow whether it's traditionally used in my practice or not. I like the book, I definitely don't hate it & I think that if you are Wiccan or Pagan this is definitely a good resource to have on hand. I do like the fact that it has Feminine & Masculine labels of the herbs, I like that it has the Planetary labels of the herbs & even though again I do not practice Wicca or Paganism I can still appreciate the way that the book is written; I even think it's cool that the author mentions what Deity's are associated with certain herbs. All in all, I'd recommend it. Even if you're not a part of the practice it's based in I'd still get it to use for general herb & root purposes.

Friends, this book is primarily for the practitioner of Wicca spell casting, and is therefore overly researched to that end. Although resourceful, it is not intended as the only book you'll want to own in your personal library, and a good book of spells will also be important to have on hand to accompany this work. Herbs and oils are grouped according to usage and definitions include why color is important, horticultural gender, associated planets and elements, anticipated powers and magical uses. There are drawings and author's notes to aid in the identification of these items when found in their natural state. There is a glossary of terms that is at lexicology level worth, a mail-order directory of where the practitioner can obtain listed products, a folk names cross-reference (A to Z), an annotated bibliography to establish credibility (from mythology, folklore, anthropology, ethnobotany, magic, and witchcraft), an index of terminology (nomenclature), and some recommended books for cooking practitioners who eat what they cook, and another about crystals, gems, and metal magic. There is a brief explanation of what magical herbalist practice consists of, and the importance of timing, tools, and the altar. This book is not necessarily a spell book, but more of a reference book to aid alongside a spell book. It is said by most reviewers of this book that in nearly any long-term practice of Wicca, "Cunningham's Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs" by Scott Cunningham, is the most usage worn and valuable to the practitioner of any volume in their entire library. Hence it should be pointed out this book is not a whimsical rush job to just get another book published, but is actually the end result of several practitioners who have devoted many years (more than twenty years each, by more than a handful of those who manifest good) to the end result of passing on this precious information in such extensive display. A universally respected effort has produced an impressive companion that irreplaceably aids the serious Wiccan. I'd be remiss not to give this book five stars, and my full recommendation. If you are new to the art, but with a serious interest, this book most assuredly is a must-have. Not all the secrets of nature have been lost, and ancient knowledge abounds here. To be honest, this book's most interesting detail is its affordability.

I was bit skepticle regarding the order after reading the seller's review. But the seller Atlantic Publishers and Distributions Pvt. Ltd. did quite a nice job. They sends the original book. It took 15 days to reach but the service was good. About the book it is a great addition in any herbalist's library. You will get many informations regarding herbs, seeds and plants.

This book is a source of knowledge for all witches who work with plants. To this day, there is no better book on the magical properties of plants. I believe every green witch must have it. The beginning of the book talks generally about witchcraft and how to use plants. The rest of the book consists of descriptions of more than 400 plants. Therefore, it is a truly valuable book for those who work with greenery. Each plant is accompanied by a hand-drawn illustration. Latin names are also provided. You won't find indoor houseplants in this book, but everything else is there. At the back of the book, there are tables and even a list of alternative folklore names for the plants. This book truly has everything that witches need to know. It is the most important one in my library. Since I am creating my own notebook of magical plant properties, this book is incredibly useful to me.
