Fantastic way to make your room dark in the summer months
I didn't really know what I was ordering when I bought this. But what I did know is that I needed something to help block out the EARLY summer morning sun. My window sizes are rather large and not standard so buying a pre-made black out blind was not an option. Custom shades were going to be super expensive. I decided to make a "blind" myself. This material is great. The material comes rolled on a hard cardboard core in a heavy duty plastic bag. The material is not wrinkled at all. Rolls right off with no issues. I ordered 11 yards and it was all one continuous piece. This material is thicker than traditional fabric but is fairly flexible. It is stiff to a certain point so it will hang straight down but has enough give to act like a curtain. The front side is ivory (which is what I wanted) and the back is white. It is very easy to cut with traditional scissors. I ended up making a straight hang down blind by sewing a basic fold over at the top and inserted a tension rod to fit inside the window frame at the top behind the mini-blinds. Works like a charm. While sewing the "seam" I used duct tape to hold the flap over so I wouldn't get pin holes in the material. No issues using a sewing machine with a normal needle. No pin holes of light going through the seam area. Easy, easy. I wish I had more skills to make a "roman" shade to pull it up instead of taking the tension rod down each morning. This would be perfect material to make a roman shade. There doesn't seem to be a good roller kit available either to glue the fabric to the roller to make a roller shade. I looked all over the internet for one but gave up. In the end my method worked and I am not going to complain because I was able to get five windows done for under $120 including the tension rods. See photos of one window with the "drape" behind the mini-blinds and the window next to it without the "drape". I will use this for the summer months and then put away during the winter when it doesn't get light until later in the day. Highly recommend as an economical way to make your room dark for sleeping.

Completely blacked out my whole living room for movies for cheap
I never leave reviews but I've ordered this a few times over the years after moving from place to place and on my latest order they actually gave me a free yard with a kind little note. So now I want to contribute and let you all know this stuff is nice and think but not overly heavy. Plus, unlike buying actual blackout drapes, you can move this all around or take it with you on trips. It keeps out light AND heat, that was another main reason why I like it. I use tiny nails to hang it up behind drapes and you don't even know it is there. Well worth the money.

PERFECT!
Great blackout fabric. Love the two sided color. It was the perfect cream color to match by room. All I did was make two panels used clip on rings and voila! Nothing else they look like regular curtains. I thought I would have to put shears over it but not necessary unless you just like a different color on top. My bedroom gets a lot of sun and when I nap or just rest during the day I can’t even see the TV screen. Now I can sleep or watch TV. I am a very happy camper!! LOL

effective but smelly and a bit unweildy
This worked OK to block out light, quite a bit of heat, and a little bit of noise. I'm sensitive to synthetics and had to air it out a few weeks before I could use it, and it never fully lost its smell, to me. It's fairly thick, has some weight to it, but isn't _too_ heavy. Doesn't fray much when cut, which is nice. To truly, fully block out light you're going to need a way of mounting it with full contact around the edges; its thickness makes any folds, creases, or bends difficult to work around, but of course that's also why it's so effective.

Stands up to continuous wear
Wonderful stuff. I used this to line our bedroom curtain almost 4 years ago. It has been hanging year-round in our southern exposure window since then, and is in amazing shape! Disclaimer: we live in a northern latitude, so it gets light about 8 hours a day in the winter and 16 in the summer. Blackout works great for light and cold. It works for sound to a certain extent (certainly worth the money, but don't expect it to cut out all the sound of the nightclub next door). Overall I have been immensely pleased with this purchase, and will buy it again if we need more blackout curtains.

The BEST product and customer service!
Agreeing with other reviewers, this product arrived with a straight/square edge, which enabled me to align five, 65” old open weave vinyl sunroom shades on top and make one cut for the width, then I placed Velcro on the shade and the new fabric and voila, rehung the shades! The seller even included an extra piece of fabric which fit a window perfectly!!! Thank you, at 93F, I was able to sit comfortably in the sunroom—a new phenomenon!

It works, best investment for summer, going to buy more.
Got the item on time or earlier. Perfect for large windows. Hangs straight down, good weight to it, not heavy but enough for it to hang right. Blackout for big windows in SUPER HOT Texas summer. Works, great price and I plan to buy more.

Perfect for DIY curtains
This truly is blackout fabric! I loved these curtains from walmart but my husband really wanted them to be blackout so I searched and searched for blackout curtains that I liked but always came short. They were all so expensive and scratchy looking so I started looking into making my own from scratch but as a new mom I decided that was too much lol so I settled on piecing together the curtains I loved with this blackout fabric and it turned out great. I didn't want to sew them together (I didn't think the threading would look as neat as I want it to be) so I bought some stitch witchery bonding and ironed the pieces together at the top only and I was all done! 7 yards got my 3 sets of 84" long curtains so I am a happy customer!
