It is made in China and is very attractive, convenient and stores away easily.

Would this accommodate a 2.25” thick NYTimes cookbook?

The ledge that holds cookbook is about 1”. I had a cookbook that measured 1 1/2” and it held just fine. I do not own a 2 1/2” cookbook so was unable to try that. However, this holder is the widest one I found and it is pretty sturdy. In my opinion, I do believe it would hold the 2 1/2” cookbook just fine.

Will any of these book holders accommodate a 3-inch deep book?? If so, which one will hold a book that heavy?

I purchased a stand that will probably accommodate a 3" book. I tried a large bible that was 2 1/2" wide and the stand held it well, even with the clips holding back the pages. The clips were very tight, depending on the value of the book you put in the stand I may not use the clips if there is a chance that the clips will damage the pages. If I don't use the clips, I would get an elastic band and cut it to fit around the stand and my book to hold the book open. The stand was the "Amazon's Choice" for large book stand the "wishacc XL Large Size Bamboo Book stand" for $22.99. It is 15.4" x 11". It has 2695 votes of a 5 star rating. I have had three friends also purchase this book stand, after seeing mine, and all three were very satisfied with it.
