Small in stature and in price, but big on convenience.
I have bought four of these so far, because I love them. As a MacBook Pro owner where everything should be Thunderbolt or USB-C, I found that most of my devices were not prepared for that jump. Enter this adapter. Anything that attaches via USB-A (standard USB most people are most familiar with), can plug into this adapter, and then the adapter plugs into my laptop. It's small, unobtrusive, and sturdy as heck. I keep a couple in my travel bag, and a few here and there around the house, so that I always have one fairly close to me that I can use if I need it. For MacBook Pro users (or for any other laptop users who rely on USB-C), give this thing a shot, it's a game changer. There also cheap enough that you could buy ones for specific purposes; ie: I have a thermal printer here and it only has a USB-A cable. I can leave one of these adaptors on that cable permanently - it's often cheaper than buying a new USB-C cable for that device, and it preserves the ability to move back to USB-A if the need arises. I just can't say enough good things about this thing; I don't write a lot of reviews, but this one deserves it.

Very useful
Reading through the questions I have to point at that there is no magic here. This literally takes a USB-C port and makes it into a standard USB-A port. Only the pins for USB-A are connected so for example the MacBook Pro's 12volt USB-C charger with this inserted will be putting out 5volt (standard, I measured it with a USB tester). Matter of fact in my brief testing the device may even loose the data connection required to request higher amperages. Putting this adapter in line with my iPad and plugging it in it was charging at 5volt 1amp, removing it it was charging at 5volt 2.3amp which is significantly faster (without it). Its a USB-C to USB-A device, NOT the other way around. It will limit performance to USB-A specs to anything its connected too. So if you have a USB-A male to USB-C male cord and you pop this on the end, you've done nothing other than waste your time. It will still connect to won't help you with anything USB-C related. However that isn't the intended purpose, it works very well adapting USB-C devices to USB-A. Due to the specs and backward compatibility with the USB standard having this adapter on your Mac (or whatever) is like having a USB-A on it. It has a very high build quality. The light on it is convenient too. I would recommend this product. Even if you are like me and have a couple hubs you keep in your bag this adapter is just nice to have....just in case....

I wish my favorite computer company would make something this simple and elegant
I bought the $30 dongle from my favorite computer company, but typically have more than one USB device that I am usually swapping out on a regular basis. Amazon had this on sale for a fraction of the price of the dongle from the fruit company (the regular price is still a fraction!) and I couldn't be more impressed with its simplicity and build quality. One caveat if you are planning to buy a handful of these for your MacBook Pro rather than Apple's $30 solution - your USB-C ports will be too close together that you wouldn't be able to have two of these plugged in side by side. Maybe one on the left side of your MacBook and one of the right. If you need more USB ports than that you should really look into many of the USB-C docks you can find here on Amazon that will also give you additional ports like network, HDMI, and an SD slot. I have one of those too, I just prefer to have my USB optical drive on the other side of my desk from the dock - that is why I bought this. EDIT: This thing really snaps into place on the USB-C port on the MacBook, so much so that it can be difficult to pull out. At least the first time I removed, I needed to close the laptop lid and place the MacBook between my legs is I could get good leverage to pull the thing out. Maybe that will get easier with a little wear. EDIT 2: months later, this pulls out of a port easily.

A pretty good little Nonda Adapter
I have mixed feelings for this adapter/dongle, but I updated to four stars after the company responded to my issues. I reported having mixed results with my A1707 15" Touchbar Mac laptop. The adapter only takes up one USB-C slot but the size of the plug sometimes blocks plugging in another device if it is at all any bigger than Apple's charging cable plug. Also it seems I really have to push it in the very last 1/16" or less for it to make contact and work...the connector seems very sensitive unlike regular USB and as a traveler I am constantly worried about bumping the cord and disconnecting my hard drive while working. Nonda did tell me that the "click" in last 1/32" of travel was part of the design to secure a good connection. Due to my Speck case sometimes that is a but awkward but that isn't on them or the design. Some devices seem to not work with the dongle. My Pioneer BlueRay CD burner/reader doesn't work and one or two other devices, but I got a new LG BlueRay DVD-burner and it works perfectly even using just one of the two standard USb plugs - It comes with a dual USB plug. What I like is that unlike my SMK multi-adapter, I don't need to have a long "chain" of cables/devices plugged in at the same time esp. when moving around or on a plane. Just leave it connected to your most common wire. The fit is tight, it won't accidentally fall off. I really like the size and that it matches your macbook. What I like about the SMK is that it works with everything I throw at it and the plug is the same dimensions as the Mac charging cable.

Top quality product, perfect, snug, fit even with 2 side-by-side
I've had other USB C products that feel loose, don't go all the way in the port, or don't go deep enough and consequently don't work well, if at all. This product fits very snugly (I'm sure over time this stuff loosens but nice it's not loose out of the box!) and it fits against the port down to a micrometer. It has a gratifying "snap" into place right against the machine and feels quality as well. Nothing moves on it, it's made of anodized aluminum end to end, and quite snugly holds on to the USB A accessories you plug into it. Not only that, this thing actually works. I have 3 USB C to USB A adapters now. One from here, one from Samsung with my old phone, and one from eBay. The eBay one basically only works with mice and keyboards. Forget about data transfer it flakes out and corrupts data. The Samsung one works for everything like this Nonda one does too, but the Samsung one is too fat and when plugged in it blocks access to the other USB C port on my system. This Nonda one is, again, down to the micrometer in size and you can fit two of these next to each other on most systems with dual USB C ports. In my case a Dell 5290 tablet but I also confirmed you can fit two in Apple systems too, since they use a standard distance on their product lineup from each USB C port. Things I've tried in this adapter: Mouse. Keyboard. 16gb flash drive. 256gb flash drive. 1tb Sandisk Extreme SSD, and an iPhone USB A to Lightning cable. I had no data issues after transfers and everything just worked. Great purchase!!

I found the best component for a MacBook
I had no initial clue of how I would make out of this item. This item is very, very, very convenient. I am not kidding. Let just say that you want your MacBook to have access to your flash drive, and your flash drive just happens not to fit inside of your MacBook. Well, this item that I am reviewing is the perfect thing to get. You are not only able to place your USB inside of that small component but you are also able to do the same with phones as well. And it does not get in the way of charging the MacBook. Some people may think that the block is too thick and bulky that it may get in the way of charging the laptop. Nope. It does not get in the way whatsoever. The size is just right, not too big, not too small but just right. One of the best type C adapter that I have ever purchased. And the item is cheap. It is not unreasonably expensive and it lights up when plugged in. Oh, and it comes in different colors.

Great value and a "must" for traveling with the new 2016 MacBook Pros
I just purchased a new 15" MacBook Pro with four USB-C ports. I did purchase the conversion cable from Apple, but also wanted something smaller that would be less obtrusive. In addition, I wanted an adapter that was small enough for travel without having to carry another cable in my bag. The nonda adapter fits perfectly into the USB-C port(s) of my MacBook Pro and holds the USB 2 and 3 devices I plug into it securely. So far this includes a Seagate USB-3 portable drive I use frequently for backup, a Samsung USB-3 thumb drive I use as an alternate boot drive, and of course my iPhone. When the adapter is plugged in, a small blue LED glows to confirm it's connection. This light is not connected to the device you plug into it, just the adapter itself. It might have been nice is the adapter had a second color to confirm the device connection, but really, that's a picayune complaint considering how well this small adapter works. The nonda adapter is a definite must-have for your arsenal if you've purchased either the new 13 or 15" MacBook Pro. Until Apple and other manufacturers come out with USB-C native cables, you'll find yourself using this adapter every time you reach for a USB 2 or 3 device.

Works like a charm
Works like a charm. Saved the day in terms of transferring data over to my new computer! Purchased the above in addition to the Satechi Aluminum Multi-Port Adapter 4K HDMI (30Hz), Type-C Pass Through, Gigabit Ethernet, SD/Micro Card Reader, and 3 USB 3.0 Ports For MacBook 12 and New MacBook Pro 2016 (Gold) for about $80.00. If considering the nonda USB-C to USB 3.0 mini adapter just buy it. Buy a few. This is a very reliable unit. The Satechi did not work at all. Nothing. When Satechi was plugged into my new Macbook Pro 2016, the USB-C to USB-3 (also, tried several external hard drives including USB-2) to one of my external USB-3 hard drive, nothing happened. The unit was dead. Additionally, an SD card was nearly impossible to place into the Satechi and I didn't want to ruin the card so I gave up with the Satechi. Since, I purchased the Satechi along with the nonda USB-C to USB 3 others may do the same so, that's why I've included this unit in my review. Satechi, just doesn't work with Macs 2016 as promised or at least with mine. Thank God, I purchased the nonda along with the Satechi. I'm going to purchase a few more. Really great little product!

Clean and simple
A clean and simple way to attach USB A cables to a USB C port โ works just as expected. On a MacBook pro, you won't be able to use 2 of these adapters side by side, but I have been able to connect another standard-sized USB C cable next to this adapter without any problem. Note that the cable locking mechanism is tight for both the male and female sections, which ensures cables don't accidentally come loose. The female port connection (where you plug in the USB A cable) seemed overly tight at first, but it's actually quite easy to remove the cable as long as you don't squeeze the top or bottom of the adapter (the 'long' sides). The status light is clearly visible but quite dim, so it's not a distraction in a dark room.
