Lobo Thai Envelope Spicy Coconut Chicken Soup, Tom Ka, 1.76 Ounce (Pack of 5)

I have purchased this Tom Kha paste several times. I typically buy it by the three pack so I always have it on hand. The instructions are easy to follow. I recommend putting the packet in warm or hot water before opening. This makes it much easier to squeeze out of the packet. It's full of flavor! I add small canned mushroom pieces, fresh cilantro, and fresh red pepper. This is by far way better than any you can find in a can.

Soooo gooooood! 🤤 Boil: 2 cups chicken broth, 1lb chicken breast, 1 serrano chili, 1 carrot. Add 1 can coconut milk bring to low boil. Add 1/2 red bell, shiitake mushrooms. Off heat add 1t fish sauce, 1 lime juice, bunch cilantro leaves, 2 stalks scallion. Superior than take out and way cheaper/super quick. 😋

Easy, delicious, a huge favorite especially when sick!

This item makes lemon chicken soup just lovely. You will need to add chicken and coconut milk. The flavor is so different from anything else I’ve tried. My son absolutely loves this soup.

This is yummy. The included directions are precise and lengthy. I tend not to use recipes, being a 'to taste" sort of cook, and just crumbled the seasoning paste (some. - not all of it) in hot water, to dissolve it, thaw it into some chicken stock, coconut milk, simmered for awhile with more chicken. more soup stock (mostly chicken) and served it up. Very tasty. It's a tad salty for me, and the flavor is strong- might be too salty for those on low sodium diets, but could be my "to taste" approach. Certainly will try it in other things before it's time to re-order.

I could make Thom Kah from scratch but this is much easier. Just throw in your thinly sliced meat & veg, and coconut milk and you are good to go. Alternatively you can saute up your meat and veg and add the coconut milk and seasoning after-it all depends on how chunky things are and what you are adding. Any way it is super simple. Also I don't find its heat that spicy - then again I have been know to eat very hot spicy food. If you think it is too mild I find adding some sambal or sriracha or slicing up a spicy pepper with your veg will fix that nicely.

The flavor of this mix is spot on. I was very happy with it. It's not the same as in-person at a great Thai place, but it's very good for making something at home. It really only makes the broth - there are maybe one or two mushrooms in the mix. So, plan on adding everything including the coconut milk. But it's the complex flavor profile I was looking for - that's difficult to create at home without lots of work and gathering of supplies. My town doesn't have an Asian market, so it's not easy to do at home without fresh lemon grass, etc.

I've come to understand why Lobo products consistently get such high reviews, besides the simple fact they are just plain one of the best ways to serve authentic Thai dishes at home. They provide you the difficult to find things that make ethnic Thai foods what they are. Basically, this soup base contains the chilis, galangal, lemongrass and other spices you just cant find in the USA, even at some Asian markets. I added one can of coconut milk, a few shakes of Squid brand fish sauce, and probably a quarter cup of lime juice from concentrate. Some chicken thigh meat, mushrooms and a few green onion tops, and lo mein noodles, and this is as good as any Tom yum I have ever had in a thai restaurant. 5 stars all around, if you don't llke Lobo products, it's you, not them.

Lobo Brand Tom Ka paste (or known as spicy coconut chicken soup.) I just love this soup, the aroma while cooking is wonderful. The finished product is amazing, it may be a tad bit spicy for some, but I did not find this for myself. It has a slight sour-y citrus hue that blended in fabulously with all thai spices combined, it can not be beat. I follow all directions, but I do not soak the packet to remove contents. I tear off top, slice both sides and scrape down with knife and it comes out effortlessly. I really find this soup heightened by the lime juice added afterwards, I add 1 teaspoon, this is my personal preference; you may adjust to your own liking. I did not add fish sauce, I did not have any on hand; tastes great regardless. My second pot I used chicken broth (no salt added) instead of water, shrimp and added various veggies such as; red peppers, bamboo shoots, basil, napa cabbage; you can add whatever you like I am sure it will taste wonderful. This soup is easy to make, the expiry date was well over a year good, the price is very reasonable, the quality is outstanding. So what are you waiting for, order yours now and enjoy!

I love this stuff, I buy loads of it whenever I go to Thailand. Unfortunately it contains MSG. I wish it didn't. Maybe there are other brands that don't have the nasties, but this one does taste very good.

Absolutely love this soup

I love Thai food and I can't wait to try this product. My order was 5-packs for 1 order. It was mailed direct from Thailand but was arrived earlier than scheduled. I used the whole pack to cook chicken breast with mixed vegetables. I added approx. 1/2 cup of water, 1 small can of coconut milk and few drops of fish sauce to finish it. The dish was good for 4 persons and served with steamed rice. It tasted very yummy and we all enjoyed it. For my next pack, I will cook with shrimp or beef but also adding fresh basil to increase the favor.

We love this soup and we seek out this particular package in local shops, but we’re happy to find it here in a pinch! A legit taste of Thailand in your kitchen.
