Never thought I could find a kitchen tool that reliable turns tough, gristly meat into tender delectable, mouth-watering bites. Take your average tri-tip or petite sirloin-- thicker the better, salt and garlic one side & garlic the other (when the first is cooking). Seer both sides in 350 degree F veg oil for 3-to-4 minutes (thickness determines) and you end up with a crusty, savory, delicious piece of meat after you let it rest. A little practice and you can work your magic on most any piece of red or "other white meat." Get one of these, you'll thank yourself. As for clean up-- I just hot water/soap & brush before I toss it in the top rack of the dishwasher. Please be careful when inspecting the points (puling back the guard-- this thing is designed to stab meat, like your finger-- doh!)! Thanks JayDoll. Great tool!

Good job
I'd been stabbing my flank steak with forks for forever so this was much easier to use and so far the results have been tender. A few observations:-The tool is top rack dishwasher safe, but it retains water in the black handle, so you will need to shake it out-I had a bit of a problem with some cold flat iron steaks. The knives would go in, but had a hard time retracting with the spring mechanism. They wouldn't let go. I had to pry the tool off the meat with a fork. After a few stabs the meat was soft enough to retract the tool automatically. Something to consider.I would order it again because it was still much faster than me with a fork!

Works great if you love tender meat! Easy to clean and store.
Works SO well, coupled with Durkee unseasoned meat tenderizer; bought these two tenderizers together. Any tough cut of steak or chicken breast becomes fork-tender with this combination. This tool consists of a series of sharp blades which extend when pushed down, and do the job. It comes with a protective lid, so it's a safe tool to have in the kitchen. Now I never have to jab cuts of meat with a fork and hope for the best; this tool does the job.

This thing is GREAT! I took a 3 pound beef shoulder roast (which cost $1.97 per pound and usually needs to be cooked low and slow to be tender and flavorful) and sliced it into 6 steaks which I then used this tenderizer on and then seasoned and grilled them. They not only cooked quickly but also came out juicy, tender, and flavorful. This tenderizer is easy to use, but not quite so easy to clean, but it IS worth the minor additional effort in cleaning when considered against the major cost savings on cheaper cuts of meat making them much more edible and far quicker to cook. If you are looking for a tenderizer this is IT!

The tenderizer is very easy to use-place on the meat and press down
The tenderizer worked very well. First, it has a security lock that you engage when not in use. It also comes with a cover, in case you don't want to lock it. The tenderizer if very easy to use-place on the meat and press down. The blades are very sharp, so a lot of pressure is not required. Clean-up is also very easy. Like another reviewer stated, you can place hot soapy water in the provided cover, and let it soak. A small brush comes with the tenderizer that allows you to get at bits that adhere to the blades. Easy use, easy clean-up. And a good price. As a follow-up, I am still very happy with this product!

Turn the top
There should be an additional step in the instructions! No where does it state that one should turn the top and THEN push on the thing to make the blades go through the bottom. We worked at it for 15 minutes and then thought maybe ours was broken. Seems the turning part was terribly stuck so when we were about to give up, we gave it one last very hard try hoping not to break it. Then it worked as expected. Would recommend.

Great meat tenderizer that works.
I like this tenderizer because it does the job perfectly. Easy to use, to clean and to store away. We used it once, and steak turned out to be tender and juicy. Tenderizing reduced the thickness of the steak (prime rib eye) and I ate the whole thing when normally I would split tit with my wife. Cooking time was reduced slightly. I will note this as a potential gift item to friends who love steaks. I will try it on less expensive cuts of steaks and I expect the results to be just as good.

I opened the package and it was beautiful. Until I tried to use it
When it arrived, I opened the package and it was beautiful. Until I tried to use it. some (many) of the multitude of blades were misaligned, so the device was jammed open and useless. There was no way to free the stuck blades without hours of meticulous work on my part. It went into the trash. I will never buy this from this manufacturer again, and would recommend that if you are looking for a similar product, buy from a different manufacturer, This one was cheaply-made.
