Castle Art Supplies 24 Colored Pencil Set - Botanical Art Palette

This set has ended up becoming my favorite for this year. The colors are gorgeous, and it has been sustaining a seascape and sea turtle drawing kick. The tin is great for brginging them on the go; I finally got the set it's own coach purse so that I can keep an eraser, pencil sharpener and sketch pad all in there. I guess the only con is that these tins aren't built to hold those other things, but I have it figured out. The pencils are comfortable to work with, and I haven't had any issues with breakage. I do have to use more pressure than I would like for getting a more saturated look, I think because I became accustomed to ink and markers, before. Once getting used to these, they are so awesome! Decent quality pencils for the price point. I usually use Prismacolor because I love soft pencils, but I liked that this color palette was specific to urban sketching-lots of lovely muted colors. My only gripe is that two colors were swapped/mislabeled. The pencil labeled Ultramarine Violet (040) was actually Cornflower Blue (092) and vice versa. Fortunately the colors are accurate on the non-sharpened end of the pencil, so visually they are correct. I guess I have one more gripe-the pencils in the tin weren’t displayed to align with the swatches in the top of the tin. Not a big deal to rearrange them in order, but the packaging/presentation is a bit sloppy. But, again, good quality pencils for the price point.

This is a great little set to give as a gift or to have as a start point for coloring those under the sea themed coloring pages. The tin is beautiful and it closes very tight (I had no need to store the pencils in a pencil case). The pencils are very pigmented, easy to blend (you can get different colors by blending the pencils), and their tip don't wear down so quickly as other brands. They are easy to color with. The only problem I had was when sharpening the pencils. The wood seems a bit soft when compared to other pencils I have, and not all my sharpeners worked well with them. The one that worked best was the rectangular Kum sharpener (the normal one, not the long point). I colored the Lily Pond page from Johanna Basford (you can get it for free on her website) using only this set. I'm very pleased with the result and I recommend this set to everyone who loves coloring.

Beautiful colors. Creamy, rich pencils that glide over the paper. Just a bit too expensive for not very many pencils. I love them but would not spend $20 for them again. You can find lovely soft core pencils for much cheaper in my estimation. But if you are looking for a nice gift for an artist you love....these would be very nice. Not saying anyone else wouldn't want to spend that much, just not me. I don't consider myself too "tight" with money either. The colors really aren't that special. They are beautiful, but most pencil sets are. Just my opinion. :)

Nice little kit suitable for producing decent artwork. Lays smoothly on the paper’s surface. Easy to use for even novice artists.

La verdad es que yo siempre he sido muy Faber Castell forever. Compré este estuche de lápices para dibujar retratos por que pillé una oferta del Prime Day y decidí probarlos; además de por su precio porque Faber Castell no tiene una gama de colores específicas con tonos piel. Y después de probarlos comparando uno con el otro puedo decir: -Castle tiene mayor cremosidad y es más fácil de trabajar que los famosos polycromos. -Castle acepta un mayor número de capas a la hora de mezclar que los polycromos sin llegar a saturarse. -Castle tiene la mina perfectamente centrada lo que nos da una calidad que a la hora de sacar punta nos garantiza el que la mina salga perfectamente afilada y sin partirse. Aquí ambos están a la par. -Ambos pigmentan muchísimo, creo que los polycromos pigmentan algo más por la cosa de que he observado que manchan algo más y hay que ser más cuidadosos a la hora de trabajar. Aquí no hay un ganador creo ya que es cuestión de lo que nos propongamos hacer y el resultado deseado. -Lo único que he echado en falta en Castle a diferencia de los polycromos, es que los segundos disponen de unas estrellitas talladas en el lápiz que nos indica la resistencia a la luz del mismo. De todas formas si dispongo un día de tiempo intentaré hacer pruebas y añadirla a las fotos para que nos podamos beneficiar todos y saber cuál es la resistencia a la luz por lo menos de los colores de la caja que ya tengo. -Castle tiene un muy buen servicio postventa que se preocupa por saber si nos gustó el producto o no y son muy atentos. Creo que más adelante harán porque sepamos la resistencia a la luz de nuestros colores 😁 La conclusión que he sacado de esto es que Castle es una marca que no conocía hasta hace muy poco y puede competir con lo mejor del mercado teniendo un precio bastante razonable. Sinceramente creo que me iré haciendo con más cajas según vaya evolucionando con mis dibujos e iré ampliando el material que ya tengo y complementando para conseguir los mejores resultados. El fanart que he añadido es una mera prueba por ver qué podía lograr con ellos; son todos los tonos piel de la cara, ojos, maquillaje de los mismos y el pelo... El resto son de la otra marca mentada anteriormente. En este dibujo buscaba ver el resultado final en tonos piel y por falta de tiempo no he podido dedicarle el tiempo que merece al dibujo para que "se luzca" más adelante y con más tiempo haré algo más realista para que os sirva mejor para guiaros en que podemos conseguir. A mí personalmente me encantan los colores escogidos para esta caja y no dudo en recomendarlos al 100%.

The hook to buy this product was the box of course and the inspiring palette. I thought it would be just enough to sample colors for my projects. The pencils are actually of very nice quality and I am using them very often in my sketchbooks. I love them now. Excellent idea of packaging, very good quality, I recommend those pencils to really Everyone.

Très pigmentés

La confezione di matite Castle Arts t si compone di 24 bellissime matite colorate dal tratto molto morbido e pigmentato. Si riferiscono, così è descritto, ad una palette di Kandinsky ma direi che sono colori adatti a qualsiasi quadro. per questo le consiglio a chiunque ami il disegno e voglia deliziarsi con esse. Certo, è una sfida tentare di riprodurre i suoi stessi quadri come è proposto dall'allegato manualetto. Consigliate.
