Grace Kelly Collection (Korean release) - A mixed bag that will test your do-good morals.
There seems to be a lot of confusion regarding this release so here is a review that I hope will answer some of the questions. To begin with this is a Korean released set that I do suspect is an illegal bootleg (as others have suggested). Why? All these films were released by MGM, WB or Paramount yet there is no mention or logos on the casing etc. except at the start of the films themselves. Also the lack of copy infringement warnings at the start of the films is a giveaway. So, you still think 6 bootleg films for $20-30 is not bad? Well here’s what you get:The movies are on individual discs that are stored in individual plastic sheaths joined at the hinge within the main double size black case. Actually not bad considering some of the bizarre scratch prone packaging I have come across in expensive box sets. All the movies are in English audio with optional subtitles. The movies default to Korean subtitles that can easily be turned off using the disc information menu on the remote. The audio levels are not on par between each disc so you may (will) have to adjust the volume between movies. OK, the movies…The Swan (1956) – Presented in non-anamorphic 2.35:1 so have to use zoom function to utilize wide screen area. This is still better than the 1.33:1 AR on the $20 DVD-R Warner Archive release (can anyone who owns the WA DVD verify the 1.33:1 AR?). The image transfer is pretty poor although apparently the transfer on the $20 DVD-R Warner Archive release is nothing to write home about either. Audio is OK. Language is English with OPTIONAL English, Chinese and Korean subtitles. Also has a logo on top corner of screen at start of movie but it disappears after a few minutes.Rear Window (1954) - Presented in 1.85:1 (I think) so not too different from the 1.66:1 theatrical release. The image transfer is average although I’m sure there are better transfers available through the Hitchcock blu-ray sets. Audio is OK. Language is English with OPTIONAL English and Korean subtitles.High Society (1956) - Presented in 1.85:1 so same as 1.85:1 theatrical release. The image transfer is good for DVD. Audio is OK. Language is English with OPTIONAL English and Korean subtitles.High Noon (1952) - Presented in 1.33:1 so same as 1.37:1 theatrical release. The image transfer is OK for DVD. Audio is OK. Language is English with OPTIONAL English and Korean subtitles. The Country Girl (1954) - Presented in 1.33:1 so same as 1.37:1 theatrical release. The image transfer is OK for DVD. Audio is OK. Language is English with OPTIONAL English and Korean subtitles. To Catch a Thief (1955) - Presented in 1.85:1 so same as 1.85:1 theatrical release. The image transfer is good for DVD. Audio is OK. Language is English with OPTIONAL English, Japanese and Korean subtitles. So the verdict? The price is not bad for what you get but 4 of the 6 movies are also available as genuine DVD releases of probable same quality so if you want to support the film industry go for the genuine releases. Rear Window is OK but if you are a real Hitchcock or Grace Kelly fan I would suggest seeking out a better transfer on BluRay. The real bonus is The Swan in 2.35:1 AR. Not great but the best on the market (hint to WB to pull their finger out and release a good transfer in correct AR). For an afternoon of weekend viewing, go for it, as a movie buff avoid it. I certainly will not be purchasing the Vivien Leigh release by the same company.

Grace Kelly is simply delicious in her few movie roles featured in this collection
Didn't expect much for the low price, but the movies were beautifully digitally reconditioned to like new, with excellent color and sound. Well worth the money. Grace was truly a rare beauty indeed, and a saucy actress as well. Her personal life was filled with lusty love encounters, and it's easy to see why men fell to her charms, for she had that "je ne sais quois" quality that makes men act like fools, and fawn over her for attention. These films were the bulk of her career production on film, since she was whisked away to a life with Prince Rainier on Monaco in France at a tender age. Her acting was very natural, almost spontaneous in "feel", and always touched with her special charms that were both visual and aural. Her leading actors were often the leading men in her personal life as well, and one can easily see how men were charmed, fascinated, and captivated by her presence and her libidinous energy. For her time, she was easily one of the most desirable women in cinema, bar none.

Somewhat deceptive advertising but otherwise fine
The movies I've watched in this collection so far have been good qualityand the price reasonable. However, what I thought was just a decoration on the cover turned outto be a line in Korean script because this set is manufactured in Korea. And the movie descriptions on the collection's box are all in Koreanwhich I don't read. Fortunately the movies seem otherwise as originallyfilmed. There ought to have been a mention of the place of manufacturea bit more prominently placed. I would recommend purchase if thefactors described don't bother you.

I know why the price difference.
Three classics, two delights and one surprise and Korean documentation. 'The Country Girl'(Kelly/Crosby)had a nice twist. "Rear Window, 'High Noon' and 'To Catch of Thief' are classics. The other two are just delights.

Great Price - Oriental Markings on Cover - Can Turn Off Subtitles
For such a Great Price I can tolerate the oriental markings on cover and can turn off the subtitles, also. The Swan did not seem to be as clear as most of the other films in this pack, maybe bad transfer, but I won't watch that one much, anyway. High Noon, Rear Window, etc., the others are pretty clear.Plastic case with plastic envelopes inside appear to hold the DVD's securely. Sound is good. All in all, for Grace Kelly fans it's something of a bargain.

I only purchased this set towatch The Swan
I only purchased this set to watch The Swan, which is sadly unavailable as an individual disc. Unfortunately whilst the price of the collection is very cheap the picture quality of The Swan is VHS standard at the very best. Would have been happy to pay twice as much to get a better quality disc.
