Great value. Picks up sound for my phone through car stereo. Good replacement for lost original at a low price. Does not seem to pick up a lot of noise but voices go through without the need to talk louder or closer to the mic. cord is long which may be necessary for some vehicles. I routed from back of the unit to the steering column and up to the instrument area so it only needed about 2 feet so i had a lot of extra cord I tied up behind the unit. easy to install and works well.

Works OK, not as clear as talking directly into your phone. Size is 3.5mm (aka 1/8th inch 'most common' standard mini-headphone jack). Make sure you have the right receiving plug when ordering. They provide plenty of cable to reach from your overhead mount, running to your radio input.

I installed this external microphone, and it fit perfectly in the same spot as my factory microphone with only a minor adjustment. I ran the cord down from the roof, through the A-pillar, and behind my aftermarket head unit—resulting in a clean and straightforward installation. The audio quality is incredible—it's a complete upgrade from the ineffective built-in microphone that came with my head unit. Now, my calls are crystal clear, even at high speeds, and I no longer have to repeat myself. If you're fed up with poor audio quality, this microphone is the upgrade you need. It is easy to install, and delivers outstanding performance.

This microphone did improve call quality in my car compared to the built in mic, especially because my stereo is mounted little far from the driver seat. I still need to speak bit louder sometimes, but overall people can hear me better now. Decent option for the price.

I purchased this mic as a replacement for my Kenwood car stereo head unit. After plugging it it I gave it a test and found it had no audio into the unit at all. After checking and double checking that it was plugged in okay and all settings were correct, the only conclusion I could make is that I was sold a bad microphone. SInce it wasn't going to be used, I was interested to see why the mic didn't work. I started by cutting the cord to do a continuity test from each of the two wires to the 3.5mm plug. After stripping the sheathing away, I was shocked to see the miniscule "wires", not even measurable by common electrical standards (e.g. 22 gauge, 30 gauge and so on). The outer "braid" was barely there and the "center conductor" was even smaller. Both "wires" failed a continuity test from the open end to the plug. And yes, I tested my faithful VOM continuity checker to ensure it works fine. But it doesn't end there. The wires are so thin, I wondered if either would have continuity across each individual wire. Just an end to end test. Again, both wires failed. There simply isn't enough metal for each wire to have end to end continuity. I've worked with electronics for over fifty years, this is the first time I have encountered anything like this. Since this mic works for others, I can only surmise that this is a one-off issue, but still the company must be working with a very small margin on their minuscule wires. By comparison, the OEM Kenwood mic has a robust copper shield and (roughly) 30 gauge copper center conductor. It's one thing to lose a few bucks on a failed product, but losing the time to reorder something else is irritating.
