Easy to use and grinds meats like a champ
The media could not be loaded. Whenever I find round, chuck, sirloin, or brisket on sale I buy some extra to grind up into hamburger meat which I then vacuum seal and freeze. It doesn't always save me money, but at least I know exactly what it's made of, how fresh it is, and how it was handled.Up until now I've been using the grinding attachment for my electric mixer, but I dread having to do that because the mixer is heavy, which makes it a real chore for me to get it out and set up. On top of that, my stand mixer is only 325 watts, so it's not even able to grind as much meat per minute as this grinder can. This stainless steel meat grinder by Avan-Pacific is light enough to move around without straining myself, yet it's plenty stable and sits solidly on the counter when I use it. It operates on 400 watts, so it's powerful enough to grind 3 pounds of meat per minute which is much faster than my stand mixer could manage. It's very simple to set up, simple to use, and comes with everything I need to grind meats, make homemade sausages, and even includes an attachment for making the meat tubes for Kibbeh! It's as easy to disassemble to clean the parts when I'm done as it was to put them together, and I just hand wash, rinse, let air dry, and then wipe down the grinding plates with vegetable oil to keep them in good shape till next time. With just four Blu-ray backlit controls, the grinder is extremely user friendly with just an on/off rocker, a grind, off, and reverse switch. The machine is made of high quality stainless steel, food grade aluminum, and ABS plastic, and meets all US safety standards. It's fire proof, has built in circuit overload protection and anti-surge protection as well, and comes with a one year manufacturer warranty.I made a brief video so you could see it being used, so I pre-cut and slightly chilled a 4 pound bottom round roast which I ground using the medium grinding plate. You'll want to cut your meat into strips or chunks slightly more narrow than the width of the feed tube before you begin grinding. If you're using especially fatty meats it helps to chill them slightly to firm the fats up before you grind them. This meat grinder costs a lot less than my stand mixer did, and my stand mixer didn't come with the meat grinder accessory which had to be purchased separately. In fact, the sausage making accessory is also an additional purchase for my mixer, but it all comes with this Avan-Pacific grinder, making it a very good value. You get a lot of bang for the buck with this meat grinder and it works like a champ, so it's an easy recommend. Enjoy!I purchased this meat grinder at a reduced cost in exchange for product testing and offering my honest opinion. I hope that my inspection and observations about it prove helpful with your decision making. If you have questions about the grinder just post them in the comments section, and I'll do my best to answer based on my own experience with it.

Good product
This works quite well -- we've used it to grind beef (chuck roast), chicken and pork. We've also used it for stuffing bratwurst (just once so far). Two complaints: the grinding/stuffing attachment is not inline with the motor axis (?) so the grinder (the silver part in the photo) moves around and around a bit. This might cause premature wear and tear. Second, a very minor one, is that there are few instructions included. These days, I'm expecting some good photos/instructions and perhaps a simple recipe or two. I ended up buying a sausage making book from Amazon which has helped immensely. It was worth the money.

I am more than disappointed.
After following all directions of cleaning and preparing it for the fist use ( we washed and cleaned thoroughly, twice to make sure) we started to grind the meat and it has metal shavings in the ground meat!!!!!! I am going to return it and I want money back. I am more than disappointed.

Grinder housing will chip off metal into your meat
So the machine actually does the job very well, unfortunately, after breaking down and cleaning. I found that inside the grinding casing had worn off and chipped some metal into the meat. At no point were large pieces of meat or bone ever put through, this is a product defect, I had to send it back.

Worked great but...
Worked like a charm grinding up 24 lbs of deer meat very quick. Had one person putting meat in and one person bagging and the person putting meat into it had to work fast to keep up. Easy to clean. Very pleased but giving it four stars due to packaging. It came in its original box (not inside a cardboard box) that was somewhat taped up but in the shipping process the coarse and fine stainless steel plates slipped out of the box along with the instructions. You can see how they sent and taped it in first picture and the second picture if you look close you can see several imprints of the steel plates as they worked themselves out of the box during shipping. Trying to figure out if I have to return the whole thing or if they will send me the missing items. We will see.
