Smooth flowing, very fast drying: a great combo for this excellent product!

I got this to put on my paint by number canvas. It works great! makes the canvas smoother so that you use less paint and it also the plaint glides on a looot smoother. It looks a little white when you first put it on but it dries clear. it does not small bad either which is good if you are painting inside. i would recommend this to anyone who uses canvas.

This does help the canvas to apply paint easier and doesn't look so porous. Works great.

I'm not new to painting but I am new to gesso. After discovering that gesso is an excellent way to prepare a canvas, I know late bloomer here, I researched and decided to give this brand a shot. I have used it for several projects and let me tell you, it is life changing! I paint alot, so I feel dumb for not having this in my toolbox all these years, but I'm a self taught artists so I'll forgive myself eventually. I am also working on a custom paint by number to work on my detail skills, and I used this and it makes a huge difference in keeping the paint from skimming and skipping. I dont have experience with other brands, so take that into consideration.

In the photo, the first one, it's not have the product, and then the other have it. I'm very impressed about this product! Because I loved the texture, the texture are soft, but have the exact texture to use for soft pastels, pastel pencils or colored pencils, or both! I love it! I add two layers after let it dry on the paper. This paper is Canson Mi-Teintes, but I apply the two layers of this product on the back, not in the texture side, on the soft side (back)I recommend this product because it's awesome!

Works great! No issues using. Smells isn't overpowering

First, let me say that I don't think this is a bad product but it did not do what I bought it for. I am used to Liquitex clear gesso for prepping paper and boards for colored pencils and pastel and that product gives a perfect amount of grit. I decided to take a chance on the Monte Marte texture gesso because it stated that it was ideal for prepping a surface for charcoal, pencil, and pastel. I found no benefit to using this product vs using the paper raw. It seals the paper but does not provide ample texture for the colored pencil to stick. It is a waste of time and product for this use.That said, I will probably use the remainder of my bottle for sealing collage or other surfaces like wood slices I want to paint over. It's fine for that and it is clearer than Liquitex clear gesso. I wanted to write this review to save other colored pencil artists from the heartache of trying to save a few bucks and end up having to buy Liquitex after all.Not a bad product, but not ideal for pencils and pastel.
