From the author of The BFG and Matilda ! Willy Wonka's famous chocolate factory is opening at last! But only five lucky children will be allowed inside. And the winners are: Augustus Gloop, an enormously fat boy whose hobby is eating; Veruca Salt, a spoiled-rotten brat whose parents are wrapped around her little finger; Violet Beauregarde, a dim-witted gum-chewer with the fastest jaws around; Mike Teavee, a toy pistol-toting gangster-in-training who is obsessed with television; and Charlie Bucket, Our Hero, a boy who is honest and kind, brave and true, and good and ready for the wildest time of his life! Review: A Timeless Tale of Adventure and Lessons - I recently revisited Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and itโs still such a fun and imaginative story. The characters are memorable, and the whimsical world of Willy Wonkaโs chocolate factory is full of surprises and creativity. The story works well for both kids and adults, with humor, lessons about kindness and greed, and plenty of unexpected twists. The writing is playful and easy to follow, and the book really sparks the imagination. Overall, itโs a classic thatโs worth reading (or rereading) at any age. I'm reading it to my 6 year old before bed and it has captivated his attention surprisingly well (he is high energy and easily distracted). I am very happy to report that his first real chapter book has been a success. Review: A Magical Journey into Willy Wonka's Whimsical World! - Roald Dahl's "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" is an enchanting tale that has captivated readers of all ages for decades. This timeless classic takes us on a magical journey into the eccentric and delightful world of Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. From the moment I opened the book, I was immediately drawn into Dahl's imaginative storytelling. The characters are vividly portrayed, each with their own quirks and personalities that make them both relatable and larger than life. Charlie Bucket, the humble and kind-hearted protagonist, is someone you can't help but root for. The chocolate factory itself is a fantastical setting, filled with whimsy and wonder. Dahl's descriptions of the mouthwatering candies and treats are so vivid that I could almost taste them myself. The Oompa-Loompas, Wonka's loyal workers, add an extra layer of charm to the story with their catchy rhymes and mischievous antics. One of the things I love most about "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" is its underlying messages of morality and the consequences of greed. Dahl cleverly weaves these themes throughout the story, teaching valuable lessons without being preachy. It's a gentle reminder that kindness, honesty, and humility will always triumph over selfishness and greed. The pacing of the book is perfect, with each chapter unveiling a new and exciting adventure within the chocolate factory. Dahl's writing style is engaging and accessible, making it a joy to read for both children and adults alike. I found myself completely immersed in the story, eagerly turning the pages to see what surprises awaited Charlie and his fellow golden ticket winners. "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" is a timeless classic that continues to capture the hearts of readers young and old. It's a book that sparks the imagination, ignites a sense of wonder, and reminds us of the magic that can be found in even the simplest things. I highly recommend this delightful tale to anyone in search of a whimsical and heartwarming adventure. Dive into the world of Willy Wonka and let your imagination run wild!

Expect the unexpected!
We are reviewing something old today, originally published in 1964! It starts with Charlie Bucket, his family, and their ordinary life. Charlie is a poor boy, living with four grandparents and his parents. He has very little to eat, he doesnโt have new toys or clothes. He is kind, simple, humble, and respectful. He is the type of character who thinks of others before himself. Charlie luckily wins one out of five rare golden tickets. These allow the winners inside Willy Wonkaโs famous factory. Mike, Veruca, Violet, and Augustus are the other winners. They can be described as greedy, rude, spoiled, disrespectful, and demanding. Charlie is not as rich but he is a very nice person. The only reason they all end up together is because of Willy Wonkaโs contest. Most of the chapters are about the adventures of the five winners while inside the factory. The visit is out of the ordinary! Many unexpected things happen. Many unexpected words are said. My favorite parts are when the Oompa Loompas sing. The lyrics of their songs are funny! I really enjoyed the characters. They are so different from one another. Charlie stands out because of his kindness and because he is well behaved. I did not enjoy the character of Augustus because I found him to be greedy. I enjoyed the ending and I would like to read the sequel. The theme is about getting what one deserves. You can see it with each of the children, especially Charlie. Kids 8 -12 will enjoy this book. I would recommend this to readers who liked other Roald Dahl books and to anyone who enjoys comedy and karma. I rate this book 5 stars โ โ โ โ โ . This is funny and entertaining. I had a great time reading this book! Daily Reader
This has been a good first grade reader. Homework requires 10 minutes of reading daily and that works out to be about 2-3 chapters a day. The chapters are short. Cute sketches are included as well. Some difficult vocabulary but not much, son is able to read aloud independently (6 years old, soon to be 7) with little correction or assistance. Mostly requires help with names. There is no real distinction of what makes this the "Golden Edition" other than the cover, doesn't seem to include anything special either. A great book and with the recent Wonka movie, a great bridge to the content. While reading, we did introduce the original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate factory movie starring Gene Wilder as a frame of reference to help with the names and flow of the story which in the early chapters involves backstory development and we have found helps our young, developing reader make visual connections and recall details. A fun book. Well loved and timeless. Would recommend! Will follow up with 2 other books in the Charlie Bucket series, including a scheduled new release this Summer.

---------------------------------------- โI, Willy Wonka, have decided to allow five children [...] to visit my factory this year.โ โ thatโs the main headline of the Evening Bulletin. As the news spread around the world, nearly everybody is in search of the golden tickets, which guarantee the win. Four winners are found very quickly: the overweight Augustus, the spoiled Veruca, the chewing-gum-chewing Violet and the TV-junkie Mike. Charlie Bucket, a poor boy, hopes for another ticket. And luckily he gets the last one. So he can visit Wonkas chocolate factory with his grandpa Joe. A lot of people might know the movie with Johnny Depp โ so do I and actually Iโm not a huge fan of that movie. Having read โMatildaโ by Dahl, I was curious about this book and so I read it. And I donโt regret it. The book is much better than the movie. Dahl has written a wonderful, fantastic childrens book with lovely characters. Once more he questiones modern leisure time activities and moral concepts, which are characterizes by the figures of Veruca, Violet, Augustus and Mike. I liked especially his appell to read more and watch less television โ or to not watch television at all. Therefor I give the book five stars. Conclusion: A worthwhile book, which is far better than the movie.
