Heavy-Duty Versatility for High-Power EV Setups
The Cable Matters 4-Prong to 4-Wire Range Cord is a robust, high-capacity power solution designed for appliances and electric vehicle charging. While officially a range cord, its heavy-duty construction makes it a favorite for custom power projects, including wiring a Tesla Gen 3 Wall Connector to a NEMA 14-50 outlet. Build Quality and Specifications Heavy-Duty Gauge: Built with 6/8 AWG copper wiring, this cord is designed to handle a continuous 50 Amp load without overheating. This gauge is essential for the high-draw demands of EV charging. NEMA 14-50P Plug: The 4-prong plug is standard for modern 240V outlets, featuring two hot wires, one neutral, and one ground for maximum safety. Durable Jacket: The outer insulation is thick yet flexible enough to maneuver in tight garage spaces, providing excellent protection against wear and tear. Performance in Custom Setups As you experienced, this cord is an "outstanding" choice for those needing to convert a hardwired station into a plug-in unit. By wiring the 4-wire end directly to a Tesla Wall Connector, you can utilize an existing 50 Amp garage outlet, providing a reliable and secure connection that performs just as well as a permanent hardwired installation. Final Verdict The Cable Matters Range Cord is a high-quality, "no-nonsense" component. Whether you are using it for its intended purpose or as a sturdy bridge for your EV charging setup, its thick gauge and solid plug design offer the peace of mind needed when dealing with high-voltage electricity.

Perfect addition to a Tesla Wall Charger v3
The Cable Matters brand has never disappointed me with the quality of its cables. I highly recommend this 14-50 cord, especially for high-powered uses. I was able to add this to my Tesla v3 Wall Charger and install the unit on my wall fairly quickly (less than 1 hour). I already had a NEMA 14-50 outlet in my garage and opted for this route over hard wiring. I have had it in place for 6+ months and have had zero issues. If you intend to do the same, be sure to tighten it to the right amount. You do not want to under- or over-tighten it.

Perfect for Tesla Charger
Perfect for wiring a Tesla charger to utilize an existing plug. Cut off the ends and stripped them down to the bare wire to make the connection. Neutral not needed.
