Makes a decent mantle too.
Classy looking shortcut for a fireplace surround. Mounting is solid. Color wasnt a perfect match to bright white lacquer so I had to respray it. The factory finish was pretty good, a light scuff and lacquer laid down nice and flat.

Quick & easy install--looks great!
For as light as the mantle is, I was concerned initially that it would not be sturdy. No more concerns: It's on the wall forever now. At first, it had some bounce to it, solely because the wall above my fireplace is uneven, so the bottom of the mantel couldn't rest against the wall consistently. I ended up taking some window/door caulk and sealing up the joint between the wall and the mantel. Problem solved.I had some problems with mounting it, completely because of the insane stud spacing in my wall above the fireplace (and faulty stud finder--which reminds me, I need to buy a new stud finder). Know where your studs are.I had intended to paint it, but when I was done, it looked good enough to leave the factory finish.

Definitely worth the money. Minor issues but looks great.
It looks great... however there was a small split in the back in a non-load bearing place and an issue with it sitting flush against the wall.The small split isn't visible and doesn't affect the function, so I decided not to bother with the return hassle. The mounting issue was solved with a small wedge of wood behind one of the mounting blocks.It's SUPER easy to install, so I upped it a star for that despite my other issues. Plus, it was WONDERFUL to see a product with actual quality hardware. The anchors were solid and the screws are SUPER long to go straight through into the stud. I'm comfortable enough to sleep with this over my head without worrying about it falling down in me.Plus, the price was awesome, especially in comparison to other similar products.I'm super pleased with what I hit, and definitely feel it was worth what I paid.

Just what I needed!
Very sturdy. Real wood. The seams are perfect. Coffee cups fit well on one side of our threshold, and on the other side I loaded the shelf up with Willow Tree. My husband and brother-in-law had it mounted in less than 10 minutes. It does go easier with 2 people.

I bought this shelf to use as a mantel over our fireplace. First this I noticed was it arrived with minor damage (a small crack on the side and a dent in the front). The damage was so minor and I didnt feel like the hassle of returning and waiting for a new one that I just left it.The instructions are clear enough and the support blocks were easy enough to install. However when I went to mount the shelf I discovered their measurements were off and the shelf doesn't slide into the space the way its intended. I finally resorted to a soft mallet to get it locked into place.Its finally in place... like others mention it is not level (the front angles down) and the small crack has now spread across the back of the shelf (in less than a week). It looks nice.... I'm just hoping the crack doesn't spread any further and certainly won't be placing anything breakable on it!

Good product but arrived damaged.
Fit well and nice to see something made from real wood. Arrived slightly damaged though, but not worth the return process for us.
