Can this be used for defroster/ac ductwork?

I’m sorry, but I do not know. We use it as a sewer line for our RV.

Can this be used for defroster/ac ductwork?

I suppose it could be if the right diameter is purchased.

Does this hose support its own weight and retain its shape? i.e. is it closer to a vacuum cleaner hose or a stiff flexible straw?

Yes retain its shape and like a vacuum cleaner hose and it is flexible !

Where do you get the fittings for this hose ??

I used 2 inch abs fittings. Just use 2 #8 screws per connection. The fit is a little tight, so you may need to cut a small notch in the end of the hose to get it to fit. There are other types of hose for the same application that are more flexible and fit better, be this hose is a lot more rugged.
