The Legend of Korra - Book Two: Spirits

This is so hard to rate because I really do love it, and the story is excellent, but the first few episodes were stupidly predictable although still entertaining. After the seventh episode I simply couldn't stop watching. They made some really cool changes with the animation for episodes 7 and 8 as they fill in the back story of the very first Avatar. I feel like there are always some details that get skipped over, like the fact that Korra had mastery of all four elements and yet she is still easily overpowered by a water bender. And the evolution of technology has baffled me since the first season. I feel like there's a lot of details missing from Aang's adult life. We get more exposure to Tenzin's awesome siblings. General Iroh, on the other hand only showed up for a minute, maybe two at most, for the whole season. The whole Korra Mako relationship is a mess. In fact, Korra's character in general is a mess. She's so hot headed and rash to the point that she deserves to get beat up for all of her stupid decisions. Bolin is entertaining, and there are plenty of characters who bring comic relief to this season, but I still miss Sokka. Overall, there are a lot of great elements to this season, but as much as I love it, I don't think it reaches the same 5 star level as Avatar: The Last Airbender. I had this same struggle when rating the first session, and I think I caved and gave it 5 stars, because really these are like 9.5 stars on a 10-point scale and just don't merit a mere 4 stars on a 5-point scale. Pros: As described, everything works too. It is a great series, and we love them. Cons: ...Could be cheaper? Also, you will want to make sure you saw the first book (season 1) before you watch this one. It does help. Also, if you don't know, this is the second season of a series based off another one, Avatar: The Last Airbender (no, not the stinky movie, the cartoon series). Watching A:TLA first would give some back story for this series, but is not necessary to the enjoyment of it. Other Thoughts: Its fun to see the Avatar world expanded on, and especially with the quality of writing as represented here.

What a great Book. They've done it again ladies and gentlemen. Nick and the avatar team kick butt this season with action, comedy, and romance(we could all use a little less I think). But never mind that we all know of course Makorra for life so this season is dope until they break up but even that's hot. AVATAR WAN, nuff said. This book is an Epic in Avatar history as far as Im concerned. *Spoiler alert* The fight to stop Uncle Unalaq after he tricks Korra into his dirty deeds only have to stop his master plan of forming the dark avatar to enslave the world with 10,000 years of darkness. With the help of Tenzin and freinds, Korra manages to pull through and decides to leave the spirit portals open. The End.

As a 25 year old woman, I grew up on the original ATLA and it took me a while to come to terms with a new avatar. Once I moved past the nostalgia and opened myself up to LOK I was hooked immediately. I've read other reviews comparing the two and for me it comes down to a few simple things: This is a DIFFERENT avatar. Just how I can appreciate Aang for always trying to remain peaceful and balanced, I can also appreciate Korra for her hotheadedness. Fact is she is in a world that does not need an avatar and its refreshing to see her character develop throughout the series. (Honestly I would love to see a 3rd series with Avatar Kyoshi which would be a completely different story arch too!) Seriously though, how many times do we want to see the same regurgitated story line where a character has it completely together, knows their purpose and how to accomplish it? This makes the difference with LOK and why I enjoy watching it. Next, the supporting characters that make up Team Avatar are not master benders. There shouldn't even be an argument here. ATLA Katara was a master after book 1 and Toph is just a bamf from the very beginning. For LOK we aren't dealing with that at all. So sure we can't expect kick ass bending but again, its for taking it for what it is. I feel like LOK makes up with that some seriously awesome fighting sequences. BOTTOM LINE: I love ATLA, the comic series and LOK. Fans who love the original, who can appreciative 2 different characters with 2 different journeys will love this show as well. It still is it the best animated programming I have ever come across.

I finished watching the whole season. And it is a letdown for me. Episodes 1-6 was okay. The character development that occurred in season 1 was just not present in these first 6 episodes. Bei Fong and Korra were my least favorite characters in the first 6 episodes mainly because of how they acted. They acted like Amon never existed and never affected them in any way. It was horrible. Episode 7 and 8 is when the ball started rolling. The story started to develop and we learned about a new character which was great. The show started to get really good and finally got to a point where I actually couldn't wait to see the next episode. But.....the last 15 minutes of this season happened. I did not like the ending at all. That ruined it for me. The show finally established something great, but then the creators of the show had to do something ridiculous. Watch the show and think about it and you'll know what I am saying. I am trying really hard not to spoil anything, that's why my review is just opinions more than factual evidence supporting my opinions lol. IN SHORT, THIS SEASON IS THE WORST OUT OF THE 5 TOTAL SEASONS RELEASED IN MY OPINION. I GAVE IT A 4/5 BECAUSE I AM BIASED, BUT FROM AN HONEST PERSPECTIVE, THE CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT WAS POOR IN THE BEGINNING, AND I FORGOT TO MENTION THAT SOME PARTS OF THE STORY WERE POINTLESS. A great tv show for all ages. Has plenty of drama, action, character development and enough humor to remind you it is still a cartoon. Definitely some of the best animation you will find for a tv show, with a stellar sound track, to boot. Amazon did me a solid by refunding me thirteen dollars for my preorder, after the show hit a price drop upon release. First time that I have had any company do that for me.

Korra is a great series. Different than ATLA in tone but still good. There are points where the series can seem to wander or be lost but I would say it is 100% worth sticking it out to watch all 4 books for. Korra's journey is hard and difficult and it is fascinating to watch how the new Avatar comes out of it.

Book Two: Spirits is really not that bad. On a complete second viewing without interruption, the story flows much better than what I remember. This book is a necessary step for Books 3 and 4. Overall, I enjoyed this book a lot better and it contains a lot of history of the Avatarverse with the episodes on the first Avatar and Raava. LOL, as a non-shipper, I try to ignore as much of the silly "romances" as possible since they were all just kids/teenagers in this book. I don't think any one of them from Korra to Mako, Asami, and Bolin and Eska really thought things through but it was all amusing to watch nonetheless. Give them time. They'll grow up soon enough :-). The main story though that centers around the Avatar and the spiritual connection and spirit portals--that was much more interesting, albeit very confusing at first, to follow.

La qualité du dvd est tout à fait correcte et cette nouvelle saison est captivante: de par son écriture, son animation, ses combats... Seulement j'aurais aimé avoir les sous titres (au moins) en anglais pour mieux comprendre les dialogues Même si dans l'ensemble on comprend assez bien la trame principale Bref avant d'acheter ce dvd, un bon niveau d'anglais est requis

Era el único DVD que me faltaba para completar mi colección, preferí comprar los DVD's sueltos que el paquete donde vienen juntos. Recomendable si eres fan de la serie.

A lot of people did not like book 2 compared to the rest of the series. I think just for the double episode "beginnings" book 2 should be seen as amazing. The animation for that two-parter was so amazing. None of the seasons are perfect, but they're all fun. Book 2 had some great moments and common "A New Spiritual Age" was another amazing episode.

One of the best animated TV shows I've seen for a while, although the story can take a while to get into. I think having all the episodes to play back to back helps with this. The animation and story telling I still find gripping.

The Legend of Korra spielt rund 70 Jahre nach dem 100. Jährigen Krieg. Die Welt hat sich stark verändert und die Industiralisierung hat die Welt im Sturm erobert. Der neue Avatar ist Korra, ein Mädchen vom Südlichen Wasserstamm das ihrem Vorgänger Aang kaum ähnelt. (So viel für die Neueinsteiger, die vielleicht per zufall auf diese DVD stossen) Buch 2: Geister, ist das 2. Kapitel in Korras Geschichte und beschäftigt sich mit den Spirituellen Wurzeln und dem Ursprung des Avatar zyklus. Der Südliche Wasserstamm sieht sich einer Spirituellen Bedrohung gegenüber die scheinbar unvermeidbar ist, doch Avatar Korras Onkel, Unalaq das Oberhaupt des Nördlichen Wasserstammes weiß eine lösung. Eine Lösung die nur der Avatar herbeiführen kann. Neben der Hauptstory wird auch die in Buch 1: Luft angefangene Beziehung des Avatar weitergeführt. Denn auch wenn Korra mit ihren 17-18 Jahren der Avatar ist, so ist sie ,,auch ein Mädchen'' -Suki von den Kyoshi-Kriegerinnen- (Avatar TLA) Buch 2 überzeugt in Animation und Story, allerdings ist das Storytelling etwas schwach und Korras impulsive art ist nicht für jeden etwas. Als Fan der Serie bleibt der Kauf natürlich pflichtsache und ich persönlich bin auch ganz zufrieden mit der Serie.
