I am upgrading from a pcie nvme gen 2 to pcie nvme gen 4 ssd. is this duplicator compatible with gen 4?

I haven't tested it, but Gen 4 drives are fully backwards compatible in Gen 2 devices. I would say yes, but you'll have to test yourself.

Can i clone a 512 gb source to a 500 gb target? different brand has slightly different size.

A 500GB and a 512GB are the same drive - it's about how storage is calculated. On another note though, the destination drive must be the same size or larger than the source.

If i have 2 2tb nvme m.2 cards i just bought and i'm going to take out my 512. do i need to clone to both the new 2tb or just one?

I cloned a 512 to a 1 TB, no problem. Youll just have to resize the partition once you reinstall the new NVME. As for cloning both: it depends. Does your pc support raid on the nvme slots or no? If not, then.... no. You don't need to clone both. If it does support raid, then you probably should take advantage of it and clone the old image to both.

Can this also be used to erase/wipe drives?

The seller's answer is misleading without context. Yes, technically it CAN be used to erase/wipe drives, but that is not a native feature to this device. It is a cloner/dock, so you can use the dock functionality to connect to a PC and from there use a third party application to erase the drive. Seller should have specified, but it seems to me (I am a tad cynical by nature) that the seller purposefully didn't in order to increase interest in the product. Boo to you seller. Boo.
