Great Flute, Awesome customer service and well built
Okay is this a $1000 or a $5000 dollar flute no.... but its a damn good flute for the money i have tried many different cheap flutes out there and they all have issues... I have seen a review by wiki that states this is there number one pick down to there 5th pick saying it has air leaking issues... well let me tell you mine came with a little blemish on one of the keys and Jean Paul service was more then outstanding they shipped me a new one right away took a few days to get here but arrived as promised. and the finish was top notch. nothing wrong with it.. and about air leaks this flute is so tight i know i am not loosing any air. it plays beautiful a friend of mine which is a professional flute player other then the nickle finish could not believe i payed under $200.00 for it. when she came over she ended up playing mine for the time she was hear i even tried to see if she would trade her $6000 flute for it she laughed and then gave mine back. but she loved the workmanship when i told her it was built over seas she couldn't believe it. she was a little upset at me for not buying american made product. i told her hey i was going to give them a try and that i expressed my concern to the company that we need it made over here for it to be made in the USA. but he did insure me that they were all inspected before they ship them out... I also found out that be careful about amazon they have been sending returned flutes back out to new customers the shipper has talked with them and it seems amazon is not listing so carefully inspect your flute and call the company not amazon and they will take care of you no questions asked. because of this the product has gotten some bad reviews so i stress to all new buyers like me let the company get you fixed up if you have an issue before posting a review... because a review should be on everything including customer service and quality of product. if they take care of you and the instrument is performing then make sure your honest in what happen and that it got fixed. I do recommend this product to any student or beginning player the price is right and the flute makes music you buy a bad instrument trying to save money then who ever is going to play the instrument will not enjoy the learning process.

So glad I took a chance on this!
Wow! I am a 36 year old mom and haven’t touched a flute in 15 years. As a new band kid (~25 years ago) my parents purchased me a brand new Yamaha Flute and it was a great instrument compared to what many band kids had. Well, I took lessons and progressed and even was a competitive marching band Geek for four years. At some point I unfortunately lost that lovely Yamaha. I bought a used flute for a pretty low price and got what I payed for. It was always so hard to play. Anyways that junky flute is long gone and I wanted another to try playing again. I was unwilling to invest right now and took a chance when I saw the positive reviews for this flute. I’ve never heard of the company but when I saw they were selling a flute with small cosmetic blemishes for around $50 I just clicked and said a prayer hoping it wasn’t junk. Haha. Well, It came today and I am still in awe. It reminds me of the ease of playing my old Yamaha and has a nice sound. I can’t speak to it being intermediate or professional since I wouldn’t have that to compare to but it is a nice flute for your typical band kid or for a casual player like me. The cosmetic blemish I almost forgot existed was a tiny scratch. Knowing how kids can be I wouldn’t hesitate to buy a scratched flute for my girls in order to save so much money. I hope others have a similar experience with these flutes. Thank you, Jean Paul USA for getting me back playing again!

Good flute for a beginner
I haven't played the flute in almost 30 years and wanted to pick it again. I wasn't willing to pay top dollar and read a number of reviews before picking this flute up. In my youth, I had a Yamaha student flute. The Yamaha sounded better and seemed more solid but this Jean Paul is just fine and great for the money. The higher register isn't consistent/doesn't sound as great as the lower register but for someone who is just beginning or who wants to pick it back up again, I think it's a great instrument. I'd buy the same one again. Should practice make me better, I'd move to a more expensive model but I think this one will do just fine.

Sounds good and customer service outstanding
I'm a 70 year-old man who decided to learn the flute. The price point of this flute seemed to be about right for ones that sounded good. From the reviews of this and other brands, this seemed like the best quality for the money and the seller seemed to be above-board. Boy, did I hit the jackpot with those two items. Even though I am a rank beginner, I was able to produce notes that made a pretty good imitation of music. With a little practice, they would probably grow into real music, but I can already see the improvement. The customer service is outstanding. The advertisement said it came with some flute grease, but there was none in my case. I emailed Jean Paul and they sent some out right away. After a couple of months, it seemed that it was getting harder to get a good sound out of the lower end keys. I emailed Jean Paul again and they asked for a video to show and tell the problem. I complied and they agreed to take the instrument back and adjust it. They did and even sent me a video of the tech playing my flute to show that everything was adjusted. No charge on any of that. So, the instrument is good, the customer service is more than good and the price is good. I can't speak to other brands, but after doing a lot of research and having had the personal experience I did, I can only sing the praises of this flute and Jean Paul. Well, maybe it is better for all concerned if I merely type the praises because my singing might drive customers away.

Excellent value, amazing company!
My daughter wanted to get a head start on the flute before she joins band next year for the 6th grade. We looked for something that would provide a good value and playability for a beginner. The flute came well packaged. I don't think you can really beat the value this flute provides. You get a nice sounding instrument, quality construction, and a company that stands by its product. The case that came with the flute is actually pretty nice. The only issue we had was that zipper on the side pocket compartment broke (the pull handle snapped off...the zipper itself was fine). I emailed Jean Paul and within 24 hours they got back to me saying they'll send us a new case. I didn't really expect that level of quick customer service, but it was much appreciated. If you got a newbie wannabe flautist in your house, definitely look into this flute.

A nice flute considering the price...
This is a nice flute considering the price. I have not played for some time and wanted a reasonably priced flute to start with, before investing in a more expensive option. I was very dubious about buying a flute online, especially since reading some of the reviews for other flutes, however, I am very pleased with the purchase so far. It came very well packaged, each piece wrapped and bagged, foam in-between keys to prevent any damage. I have tried all the notes and they all seem to be in working order, and the overall sound is satisfactory. I am by no means an expert, but I would say this is a good starter flute for band class, or anyone wanting to try flute before deciding its the instrument for them. I don't see the point in paying $500-600 for a starter flute only to find out its not for you. The accessories were also good, a bag with shoulder strap, cleaning rod, cloth and gloves. The only obvious downside I can see is some evidence of manufacturing on the mouthpiece, which I am sure is going to bug me, but since I only intend to play this instrument for about a year, before investing in something more advanced, its not going to affect playing. Overall, my first impression is that this is a good starter flute.

Best gift to myself
I hadn’t played my flute in more than 30 years, and when I did…oof. So I bought the Jean Paul student flute and was delighted to find that I t was so much easier to play than my old flute and also had a beautiful sound. I couldn’t be happier with it!

Great quality instrument - strong construction and plays flawlessly
Bought this flute for my daughter for her music classes at school - better value than renting a banged up used one. She has enjoyed playing it and is learning quickly. My wife also plays the flute, and was impressed with the sound and clarity of the instrument. It is a little bit heavier construction than some more expensive ones, but it is also stronger and ideal for a student - takes the dings.

so far so good
As a very old beginner, even though I am finding it difficult to play, the tones I hear at times give me encouragement that the flute is capable of producing very tuneful melodies!
