Short and to the point: Awesome Mic!
EDIT: After 9 months of use, I have to say, this thing amazes me upon every use. I use it for Machinimas, and it is extremely high quality. It never lets me down. A lot of people ask em for voice acting because I have such a great quality. Highly recommend, insanely good price too. :) This mic is amazing! I was using a rock band mic before, and that simply would not do for Machinimas. For walkthroughs it was fine. Literally I just plugged this bad boy in and adjusted the volume on it, and now I'm using it in Skype, TeamSpeak, and of course for Machinimas. Note: I have XP Media Center Edition, and it WORKED, so it better work for anything else. The quality is the best when you get the recording volume to your liking (depending on how close you are to the mic.) For the best quality, turn down the volume and speak right into it. Also, I recommend the 15 dollar pop filter you probably see in the related items. It works WONDERS. Also, I have two fish tanks in my room, which are currently a few inches low on water, and it doesn't pick them up! Also, my computer tower is an older Alienware Area 51. (2009) Go look it up on google images. The fan is not loud, but definitely present. The mic doesn't get sound from that either. It's just great. If you just do youtube videos or make simple hip-hop or quieter music, I would recommend this mic. I'm not sure about instruments, rock vocals, or singing, but it probably at least does well with them. All in all a great mic!

Safety Hazard!
The microphone works well. I plugged it in and it worked immediately (XP Pro). The volume is fine, the quality is excellent, the DC bias in nil, etc. The problem is that when it's recording, it shocks me! I noticed that when I touch it in some places, there's tons of noise, like when I touch a plug for a speaker system. Apparently, on mine, the mesh over the microphone is connected to the power or something because it shocked my wife's lip when she got too close, and my finger when I licked it and touched the mesh! I hope this isn't the normal situation for this mic, and that it's just a problem with my particular unit, but I think I'm going to try to return the unit. EDIT I traced the problem to a faulty ground. We just moved into my house and the ground wire from the wall (being shared with the computer, and the usb functions) were not actually grounded. After grounding, everything works perfectly. GROUND YOUR MIC! EDIT You're right, the mic has since proven (got it around May 13, 2011 and now it's June 20, 2012) to be excellent. It has served my needs (home voice (only) recording) very well, and withstood my child going from 2 to 3 years. Thanks for the reminder.

USB Mic
This is one of the best mics I have worked with in a long time. It is a ruggedly constructed unit. The USB cable (included) is long so it may be used a bit away from your computer fan noise. And the best part, it makes you sound great. Behringer makes this and it is as good as any of their products. Would and will buy another of these. I was hesitant to buy a USB mic but it works great. Plus the price is very affordable.

Good for Beginners
At first when i plugged it in, i had problems but that was because ableton would not recognize it but then it worked perfectly fine. I noticed the light was green instead of blue like its supposed to be but i looked in to that problem and found out that my computer wasnt giving it 48v phantom power like it requires. Also after around 15-20 minutes of it being plugged in, it starts making this static noise. i suspect because of the lack of power from my computer. so none of that is the microphones fault. also people are complaining about the levels. well their pretty easy to change. the only thing i did not like about this microphone was the amount of background noise it picks up when your not talking but then again, its a $55 microphone. so all in all, its a good microphone for beginners and good to start out with. but if you want more professional results, get a good $200 microphone. I was just on a budget so I bought this. And go with XLR over USB. to many problems with usb. once i get the money, im getting a rode nt1a Rode NT1A Anniversary Vocal Condenser Microphone Package with a nice audio interface Focusrite Saffire 6 USB Audio Interface and thats all you need to get great results. thanks behringer though for a product well worth the money.

The best for the Price!
At first I was a bit skeptical about this mic being that it was USB powered but I decided to risk it and try it out. The mic itself looks and feels like a high end condenser mic and overall it is very appealing to the eyes but it's responsiveness was nothing to brag about. So I thought I might have to send it back but BOY WAS I WRONG because after a few minutes of adjusting the mics recording levels......it worked like a champ and once again Behringer delivers a quality product that will do virtually anything you can think of. If you can't figure it out than you're doomed but like many things if you can get it to work properly than this is the mic you've been looking for.

I have been using Garageband on a Macbook Pro for just a few weeks now and wanted a mic that was going to give me better results than the on board mic of the macbook. I have tried to record acoustic instruments using the on board mic but results were not great. After looking around I wanted a mic that did not require phantom power as it would just add more expense purchasing a power supply. I opted for the Behringer C-1U as it was powered from the USB which is just very convenient for me. After reading other reviews about the low volume issues I was a little wary, however I have no issues with recording volume as I simply turned the mic input up in my audio settings to 90%. When recording my acoustic guitar from about 1 foot away the results were great and so much better than the on board mic, I tried a few vocals and again so much better than the on board mic. Agreed that there is a little hiss at the high level but nothing that cant be filtered out with software but this still gets 5 stars from me as I have used other mics in this price bracket and none even come close to the recording quality I get from this. *Update* After using this for over a mouth now I still have no issues with recording level. I have some noise as expected but noisegate in Garageband got rid of most of it, Here is a sample of the recording of acoustic guitar and vocals. Noisegate has only been applied to vocal tracks not the acoustic recording. [...]

If you are looking for a nice quality in low price, this is the way to go. It is a little quiet, so you need to talk close to it, because it is powered by 5V from USB port, and not as professional expensive stuff by PHANTOM (around 40V). So for PC usage, must have.
