LOVE & ANARCHY: In pre-World War II Italy, the employees of a popular Roman bordello realize that a new arrival (Giancarlo Giannini, Hannibal, Casino Royale) is planning to assassinate Mussolini. When they lure Mimi back to Sicily with a better job, he must keep his lover - and love child - under wraps. That's when his wife announces she's pregnant. ALL SCREWED UP: All Screwed Up is the exuberantly funny tale about the often tragic adventures of a group of young immigrants who have come to Milan to make their fortunes. In addition to Adelina and Carletto, there are Gigi, who drifts into a life of petty crimes, Isotta, who becomes a prostitute, and Sante and Mariuccia, who marry in bliss and, in two years, are something less than blessed with seven children (one set of twins followed by quintuplets). They all soon discover that Milan is a town where everything is in it's place but nothing is in order.

Early Wertmuller never looked better.
The Seduction of Mimi and Love & Anarchy were released as single DVDs in the past with poor visual quality. I owned those DVDs and never realized how bad a job those transfers were done until I bought this set. The picture is pristine for both movies at long last and that goes for All Screwed Up as well (which was not out on DVD prior to this set).These movies are real classics. The Seduction of Mimi was even remade in Hollywood with Richard Pryor as Which Way Is Up?. The Seduction of Mimi and Love & Anarchy also start the collaboration between Wertmuller and her leading man Giancarlo Giannini. The two went on to make five films together and these are the first two (the others are Swept Away, Seven Beauties and Night Full of Rain.I cannot recommend these movies more especially if you discovered the ones I mentioned above. Love and Anarchy is a period piece set during the height of Mussolini's regime prior to the start of the war. This has much more drama than comedy while All Screwed Up and The Seduction of Mimi are contemporary Italian comedies.This set is more of a companion release to The Lina Wertmuller Collection (Summer Night / The Nymph / Swept Away / Seven Beauties / Ferdinando and Carolina).

Transfert excellent. Les films "FILM D'AMORE E D'ANARCHIA" et "MIMI METALLURGCO" sont des classiques. Le 3ème "TUTTO AL POSTO NIENTE IN ORDINE" ennuyeux! Mai rien que pour les 2 premiers ça vaut le coup d'acheter le coffret. Un vrai régal!

Other Wertmuller?
Where are editions of SOTTO, SOTTO and A JOKE OF DESTINY, two Wertmuller classics, on DVD? SOTTO,SOTTO seems to have been written for Gianini. Unfortunately he must have not been available, but the movie works wonderfully anyway.
