Works great
These are simple to use, robust and have been reliable. They're tough to mount though having no ears or tabs. They're a little bright for annuciators at night even at the dimmest setting that'll still display white (3). These are rgb so to make white you turn on all 3 colors with equal intensity. You can control the color of each one individually but not the brightness, that's global. They are strobed to conserve power and it works - all 24 lit green plus the arduino micro plus a 7 segment backpack only takes 40-50ma.

Fun to play with and potentially useful
Neopixels are really cool devices. Adafruit's Arduino library hides all of the hard parts of making them perform and lets you get on with deciding what you want them to do. Attaching wires to the contact points probably shouldn't be your first attempt at soldering however. They are small, near other parts, and a bit heat sensitive. If you have a good temperature controlled iron and a little practice though, you should do ok.

Perfect for DIY projects
Excellent product. Works exactly for what I wanted it for, a DIY camera light ring for Webcam. Only con I have is that I received the ring with the pins spaced out around the ring rather than on the shared location. Not a big deal, but had to redesign my wiring.

The Ring is beautiful -- what can be done with it is even more so.
If you want to have some fun making an "endless tunnel of light" with this, try this. First, this is a great product. One cool way to connect to it is to take a strip of 90-degree header - you know, the header with pins that are bent to solder at the end of a pc card but are manufactured with a 90-degree bend to mate with connectors). That one. Break off a SINGLE pin from the group and then carefully solder that pin onto the BACK side of this ring. Solder it into the PC hole using the short part of the pin. Leave the long end exposed. Adjust the pin before soldering so that it runs in-line with the loop -- and does NOT stick out and protrude outside it. So, for example, in the product photo shown, your pins would be hidden. Connect a wire with a female header connector on it. These are common in bread board kits. With a little planning, you can arrange all the pins, connectors, and wires so it looks neat and you don't have to solder wires directly to the product (gives you options later). Now, the good part. Find yourself some 67mm camera lens, threaded uV filters and perhaps some polarized ones too. I threaded several to create a "stack". By adding a circular mirror and the one-way mirror film, you can create the effects of endless tunnel of light seen on YouTube. Watch YouTube for ideas if you are not familiar. You will have to use a Dremel tool to put small wire exit slits into one of the cheap lens caps but, hey, it's very cool. The colors from this NeoPixel are spectacular and with the shaded lens covers, you can control the brilliance mechanically as well as electrically. Sometimes, you need the robust electrically driven light but it's too brilliant for the eye. The lens filters allow a layer of control. Stack them as deep as you want. They are fairly cheap on Ebay from used camera equipment suppliers and people unloading old stuff. Enjoy.

So cool and works great
My husband purchased this to place on our garage wall to tell me when to stop when pulling my car into the garage. Way better than a tennis ball hanging from the ceiling.

Got it working fairly easily - very bright
One tip for getting it to work is to make sure the power voltage matches the signal voltage. In my case, it was 3.3v each. I used the basic Adafruit library (adafruit/Adafruit_NeoPixel on Github). The Adafruit site had enough info to get me up and running.

NEOPIXEL RING

Bright neopixel LED ring
Excellent product from Adafruit - well thought out and bright product. It works straight out of the box once plugged into your Arduino/micro controller. Outer edge to edge is 65mm and the gap in the middle is 52mm. I found it hard finding online the dimensions to help fit an LCD in the middle of the ring. This is the 24 pixel ring and its perfect size for the project im currently making (GPS speed gauge with LED visual speed display). It would be nice if there were some half sizes, for example, this is the 24 ring and the next size up is 60 LED.. which is quite a big jump.Top tip is set brightness to low when using as this thing is seriously bright. Arduino = " strip.setBrightness(10); "Overall Adafruit make some incredible, well thought, well made products and i would say in 99% of the projects i make you can usually find something in there made by Adafruit!
