Street Fighter IV Original Game Soundtrack

To start off for those unfamiliar with how certain characters are named in the Street Fighter series, the Dictator known as M. Bison is originally called Vega in Japan, so the track for Vega's stage music is actually M. Bison's music, and Vega's stage music is missing, as well as a all the new SF4 characters like Viper and Rufus (who have fantastic stage music, btw). Otherwise, it includes all the original stage music for the new stages in the game, which are pretty good, and most of the important classic character themes remixed for a new generation.

The game, Street Fighter IV, re-invigorated the 2D beat'em up genre. The package was excellent: a good lineup of fighters, good controls, excellent graphic art style and awesome pumping music.This product is the later distilled. Now I say "distilled" because apparently there is some music missing ... and I've not noticed this myself, but my fellow reviewers are likely right.What disappointed me a little (though not enough to drop the score, because the item never implied this) was that there were no remixes included. I think that (some of) the tracks would lend themselves to clubbing, which Capcom themselves did for the Super Street Fighter IV ad clips. Finger's crossed a new version of the soundtrack will come out for the new title ;)With regards to the Art, there is an excellent Art Book for the entire series available here:  SF20: The Art of Street Fighter

As a Street Fighter fan and Capcom aficionado, I am very happy that Capcom struck a deal with Sumthing Else to sell the Street Fighter IV OST -- and other more recent Capcom game soundtracks -- in digital and physical form.SFIV's tracks are broad in general, with many mixing world themes with modern, electronic arrangements for its global stages. The Africa and Asian stages in particular are steeped in lush instruments and arrangements. Other songs (Cruise Ship Stern, Overpass Stage) that are club ready. Some, like the Secret Laboratory Stage and Distillery Stage, have a dramatic, orchestral feel that gives the battles more emotional weight.The character themes are fresh re-imaginings of classic Street Fighter themes. You'll be able to easily recognize the tunes and even gain a greater appreciation for the remixes -- the ones that are present, anyway. This leads into the biggest misgiving with this release: several tracks are absent.Somehow, the Sumthing Else version scrapped the new character themes and several other songs, and this leads to my score of 3 stars. The Japanese SFIV soundtrack release has the songs for all the new characters (C. Viper, Rufus, Abel and El Fuerte). Their themes are some of the most dynamic and unique in the game and represent the characters very well -- from the sheer power of Abel to the sadness and speed of C. Viper. As of now, the only ways to get their full tracks are to either import the Japanese soundtrack or to buy the Collector's Edition game version of Street Fighter IV, which contains a CD with the missing songs.Other songs, including both versions of "The Next Door" and the stage select themes, are noticeably missing. I am not sure why Sumthing Else cut them for this release, but it is a shame that those making the purchase are missing out on what Japanese buyers purchased -- especially with Capcom's Sulputer logo on the front.Overall, I recommend this soundtrack and am grateful to Capcom and Sumthing Else for giving fans the chance to purchase it without the need to import. However, I encourage true Street Fighter fans to import the Japanese soundtrack and have the full experience.

The music is great and all, but it's missing the themes of of the four new characters (Abel, El Fuerte, C.Viper and Rufus) and "The Next Door"/"Indestructible". Also, I would think that an official video game soundtrack would have ALL of the game's music, including prologue and ending songs, even as short as they are. Maybe I'm too picky.. =/

Das Album besteht aus 2 CDs. Die erste CD beinhaltet sehr kurze Musiken und Soundeffekte direkt aus dem Game. Insgesamt sind es 33 Tracks! Die Tracks sind namentlich größtenteils an ihre Länder geknüpft und weniger mit charakteristischen Fightern assoziiert (bspw. "Small airfield stage - Africa" oder "Drive in at night stage - USA"). Da es halt nur sehr kurze Musikstücke sind, fehlt es ihnen insgesamt an Form und Ausdruck.Interessanter ist da auf jeden Fall CD2: hier gibt es die typischen, liebgewonnenen und "altbekannten" Fighter-Melodien und Themes. Ryu, Ken, Cammy, Sakura, Guile, Chun-Li, Rose, um nur einige zu nennen! Es sind insgesamt 18 Tracks mit einer Laufzeit von ca. 60 Minuten!Besonders gut gefallen mir folgende Themes:- Ryu- Chun-Li- Sakura- Cammy- Rose- Gouken- Gouki- Street Fighter 4 orchestral Version (fulminant, monumental, große Bühne)Das schöne ist, dass viele der Ur-Fighter-Themes noch immer enorm wirken und inzwischen tatsächlich unverkennbar sind. Leider jedoch sind einige Themes für meinen Geschmack zu dance-/funk-lastig (was sich in der Videospiel-Reihe "Street Fighter Alpha/Zero" bereits angekündigt hat). Ich würde gerne mal wieder Kens gitarrenlastiges und hard-rockiges Theme hören, wie ich es noch aus meiner Jugend vom Spiel "Street Fighter 2" gewohnt bin. Das aktuelle, hier vorliegende Ken-Theme ist zwar unverkennbar, allerdings zu sehr "weichgespült"! Dasselbe gilt für das Guile-Theme. Wer sich noch an die originale Musik des GI erinnern kann, dem wird das hier verwendete Theme ein bisschen zu fade und langweilig vorkommen. Ungeachtet dessen ist es unverkennbar Guiles Theme.Für mich als bekennendem SF-Fan seit dem Teeniealter ist es ganz klar, dass ich mit dem Produkt hier zufrieden bin. Habe die CD1 bisher selten, dafür die CD2 umso öfter und regelmäßig gehört. Die Soundqualität ist "up to date" und gut. Nichts auf den beiden CDs klingt so "pixelig" wie damals auf dem Super Nintendo (SNES) der goldenen 16bit-Ära.Empfehlenswert! Also ab dafür: Hadoken und Shoryuken!!All denjenigen, die auf die SF-Melodien, Themes und Musik stehen, sei auch noch die folgende CD ans Herz gelegt:"Street Fighter Tribute Album"!! Superschön, klassisch gut! (Habe ich bereits ebenfalls rezensiert)

Ich mache es kurz:Ich liebe Street Fighter seit SNES Zeiten. SF4 geht mir echt gut ab und die Musik ist ein teil meiner Kindheit.Auf diesen beiden CDs sind eine Auswahl an Stücken aus SF4 zu hören; meiner Meinung nach sind die echt gut; auf CD2 sind dann auch viele der alten Themen von Ryu, Ken, Guile und Co zu hören. In neuem Gewand und echt klasse.Und der nervige Popsong aus dem Intro ist nicht mit bei, das finde ich nicht mal schlecht... ;)

le premier CD a beaucoup de titres ; la musique est agréable à écouter ; le deuxième CD est le plus intéressant ; les morceaux sont efficaces ; on les retient facilement

Les ost de Capcom sont très souvent gage d'une qualité exceptionnelle, et celle ci ne déroge pas à la règle. Épique du début à la fin. Même si on regrette parfois au coin d'une note les bonnes vieilles pistes des musiques des versions Super Nes et Saturn...
