Fixed HDCP error
My problem that needed fixing: Out of the blue we get the HDCP Error Detected on ONE of my TV's. Not the others. Could not see video, just the error message. Audio still came through fine. The TV in question is an older TV, a SONY Bravia. Still works perfectly, exceot for this problem. We use Roku Ultra devices to view our TV sources (Youtube TV, Netflex, Primve Video, etc...). Like I have stated, all of a sudden we get the HDCP Error Detected screen on the one TV only, not the others which we also use Roku Ultra devices to connect to our video sources. I did my research and realized that my old TV has the original HDMI input (1.0? 1080P max.). It will never support the latest versions of HDMI that are required for HDCP and fix this error. And I am NOT going to throw this TV away and buy new for this unless I absolutely have to. I determine that to fix this you need to purchase a splitter that will "strip" away HDCP. After much more research, I chose this model. It WORKED! It does strip away the HDCP and eliminated the error. We are back to normal TV viewing on that older TV. Also, it did come with a power supply, some reviews said it did not, mine did. So for Roku Ultra connecting to and old flat screen TV that is getting the HDCP error, this splitter did fix it for me. Hope this review helps. jp

Great item for great price
The primary reason for this product was to be able to split my Direct TV feed between the 2 TVs in my bed room. I had recently moved and inherited another TV and I figured the best thing for this would be able to play my video games on one TV and be able to watch the sports on the other TV. I found this product from a list of others and felt it was a great price and was highly rated before. I ordered this on December 24th, 2013 expecting the product to take weeks to get to me as I choose the free shipping selection. However I received this item a week later on the 31st and was pleasantly surprised at how quickly the seller was able to process my order and ship it out given the holiday week. As for the item it works great! It requires a standard plug in to power the system and is a passive one in which it takes my Direct TV feed and splits it into 2 without enhancing or requiring a switch between sources which allows me to watch my show on both TVs at the same time if I would like. Anyways I would strongly suggest this item and seller to anyone who is looking for a similar product. The only complaint I have is the LED light used to indicate the connection is a light blue which is very overwhelming at night in the bedroom where I have it set up. I was however able to combat this as best as possible by burying it in the entertainment system but was amazed at how bright it is as I was able to see things clearly in the room with just the blue LED lights.

Does the job, but beware the power supply.
For anyone that wants to buy this device for HDCP stripping purposes I can confirm this little box will do the job! I used it on my PS3 and the quality looked great. I couldn't get it to work in 1080p, not sure if I didn't have it set up right but it does look great on 720p. Much better quality than the component cable. WARNING: This box does not come with a standard American power supply. The prongs WILL NOT FIT on your power strip or wall plug. You will need to buy another adapter for it. A 5V adapter should work but I can't tell you the exact size. That is the only reason I gave this device 4 out 5 instead of 5 out of 5. Overall, I am happy with the item. It does what it is advertised to do, but beware the power supply. If you find one that works you will most likely be happy with this device.

Works very well with a long cable run
Great little splitter / amp which comes with the power supply. Does exactly what it's supposed to. The extremely bright blue light is quickly covered with a piece of black electrical tape. More details: I was trying to watch Mythtv from my computer on my widescreen in a distant room. MythTV now has a neat little android remote app which works over wireless. I connected a Balun I purchased on Amazon to the back of my computer, and then ran through about 120- 140 feet of Cat 5E cable to another Balun plugged into my TV. My results were poor, and the signal was unreliable. As soon as I placed this splitter / amp in front of the long cable run, it started working perfectly. So I now come off my video card and into this splitter, and place the balun in the output of the splitter. Works like a charm. I think the video card is the root cause of the problem, not giving off a strong enough signal because DVS's and other things worked with just the balun. But this splitter / amp solved my problem. I now have one port going into the balun, and the other port directed to a monitor on my desk.

Defective out of the box
This unit has one input and two outputs. Output #2 worked perfectly, output #1 never worked. I tried switching input sources, outputs, having only one output plugged in instead of two, switching source and output devices off and on. Output #1 never worked, output #2 always worked. This is definitely an el cheapo splitter, made in China, at the bottom of the price range for HDMI splitters (about $20). I didn't ask for a replacement. If the first one doesn't work and it's a cheap model, then they are probably all made cheaply, so even if the replacement works, it might not work for long. Many of the reviews on Amazon for these inexpensive splitters said that even if they work at first, sometimes they burn out after a few months. I'm going to try one of the more expensive splitters. Warning: You will see lot of the inexpensive splitters available through Amazon, but they are all really just two models, each from multiple sellers. Look at the pictures, you will see which ones are the same model. Suggestion: Try to use Amazon Prime when buying. I know that sometimes Amazon Prime is more expensive than the same model without Amazon Prime, but from all of the comments on all of these splitters, it's apparent that you can easily get a defective unit. With Amazon Prime, they will always take it back and they will pay for return shipping.

it works pretty well. If it's been on for a long ...
I bought this splitter so I can use my Playstation in different rooms without having to swap out the HDMI cable every time. Unfortunately, this doesn't work unless the TV I want to use is turned on before the Playstation is turned on. If I'm playing a game and want to switch rooms, I have to disconnect the power to the splitter, turn on the second TV, and reconnect the power. It's a minor inconveninece, but nearly defeats the purpose for which I bought this thing. Other than that, it works pretty well. If it's been on for a long time, the sound will occasionally cut out intermittently, especially if watching high-resolution video. Still worth the price, and may be perfect depending on how you intend to use it.

Splitter = HDCP removal/bypass/stripper
Bought this because I had a problem with my HTPC and TV. My TV is 5 years old, and it doesn't have HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) so I wasn't able to watch TV with Windows Media Center because of it. I heard about this splitter and IT WORKS! I only ran into 2 problems and they were related to me not the product: * 1st connect it to the power THAN connect the HDMI cable or else you will have a problem with no Audio * I had defects on the image, like white noise, turns out my HDMI cable was the culprit, it was missing data, causing some pixels to be missed. once I replaced the cable it worked flawlessly. But it works as described, and it handles the HDCP for you. It works great for any gamer trying and record their gaming or anyone trying to record anything directly from their HDMI feed and in my case just watching TV on a older TV set. The only drawbacks are the LED gets to be a bit too bright ( easily fixed with a piece of tape over it) and the power cable connection is a bit loose (also fixed with a piece of tape). Remember it might all be hidden behind your tv, so who cares about the tape fixes? (for this price.... I'll take it anyday compared to a $300 HDfury )

Perfect for PS3 capture.
This works perfectly for what I needed it for. I am using this in conjunction with a PS3 and an Elagato HD60 Game Capture device. The setup is: PS3 into the input, output 1 into the Elgato, Elgato output into TV, Elgato USB into Computer. The HDCP is properly stripped allowing streaming and recording of PS3 gameplay perfectly. I also tested using output one to Elgato and output two to the TV and that worked perfectly as well. This was a fantastic deal and works great at half the cost of other options. Update: It has been almost a year and I just wanted to comment again that this is still working perfectly for me. I am using it the same way still, and have used it with many different devices. I use it to capture and stream video from the PS3, PS4, and the Wii-U. In addition, combined with the Elgato HD60, this allows me to use a Lightpack with all the consoles by just previewing their streams on the PC. I am probably going to purchase a second one for another screen.

Duplicates video correctly!
This is cheap, sturdily built, and does exactly what I wanted: duplicating the data and cleaning the signal to use my PS3 with my capture board. Highly suggested.
