Alumilite 10570 Amazing Mold Putty Kit, 0.66-Pound

I had a pet that had passed away and we had placed his paw in wet cement on our front steps. Well, a couple years later i was looking for a product to capture the exact size and details of this print for if we ever move and want to place a copy of his print elsewhere or keep the impression as a momento. I used this product on a cold wet humid day and it says to let it set up for longer if conditions are colder. I let it sit for 35 minutes and was easily able to lift it out of the deep impression without using anything to lift the edges it just popped right out with a little force. The detail and durability of the material is very strong. Keep in mind you have to mix the 2 parts extremely fast and thoroughly though. I got great results and am very happy.

The product itself is great but I think I got a repackaged return. The first box I got, one of the tubes exploded and leaked all inside (pic 1). I submitted for a replacement of damaged product and before I was even able to send the first one back, got a replacement in the same condition (pic 2). I gave up and decided to order direct from the manufacturer and it came to me fully intac. I can see there is a slim foam block to make sure the lids didn't pop off was in this box and not the first two sent from Amazon (pics 3 and 4)

Perfect! (Used with EasyCast Clear Casting Epoxy) Followed the instructions and moved quickly. It really helps to have your originals ready to go before you start mixing the 2 parts together. You have a short amount of time to get everything done, so the more prepared you are, the better the results. For all of you complaining that it dries too quick, use a stopwatch to track your timing of the steps. Trust me, this is not one of those, "let's just see how this goes" type of deals. The more accurate you are with your time, the better the results. Timing is everything! I let it air dry AND put it in the oven for a few minutes (per the instructions). Not sure if doing both helps, but I couldn't have hurt :P As for the finished product, it came out great! Caught all the details in all of the nooks and crannies. As some others have stated, resin cured in this putty will give the surface a "frosted" film-like look. I did my research before I bought this and found that can be fixed by applying a thin layer of resin to the "frosted" part of your finished piece. It worked! :) Very happy with this product!

This stuff is no joke. It works very well-far better than the Sculpey mold maker. It creates a clean, flexible mold, that produces clean, crisp clay imprints. The Sculpey molds require baking to solidify, and they definitely harden over time. I have some only 3 months old, and they are rock-hard. My first issue with this mold putty is, my box arrived open. The outside package showed no indications of having been dropped or stepped on. It was packed in a padded envelope, which was part of the problem. However, the contents of BOTH canisters had oozed out into the box, which was completely open. Is it always delivered in that state? Who thought that was a good packing procedure? As for the product, itself, it set up WAY faster than 3 minutes. The instructions say sets in up to 3 minutes. That's an exaggeration. In about a minute, the putty started to become harder to work--like malleable foam. I barely had time to get the amount I wanted blended, and the item pressed into it. So, I like it a lot for the nice mold it produces, but holy organization and timing! Have your things out and ready to go, immediately, to make the impression. Also, it seems to work best with small items. If you had to mold a larger item, there's no way you'd have it blended and pressed out in time. I noticed that it is hard to get creases out of it. I attempted to smooth them out, and no-go. The putty doesn't respond the way clay does, and there's really no time to be that picky, anyway. I don't know how people use this product to get those smooth-edged molds. I tried, and no banana. If you're OK with speed-mold making smaller molds, this stuff creates an awesome mold. If you move a bit slower, you might explore other options.

The stuff is amazing! So easy to work with. I use it to make a cast for molding parts of missing wood. Then I use a wood filler that hardens really well inside the mold. The whole process takes less than an hour. So simple. I wish I knew about this a lot sooner!

I've never tried to make any molds before. So i was nervous to try, especially knowing the very short working time. I dont have a scale so i just eyeballed that A and B were the same amount and mixed best i could. Everything turned out perfect and i used it a bunch of times right away! I needed a mold for liquid clay so i needed a product that could be put in the oven. This is it! So far, its amazing.

Fun to use! Lots of applications.

My product arrived in a timely manner, but when I opened it up one of the containers had leaked out.. it was on inside of the box and I was very disappointed. ☹️

I haven't tried making moulds this way before and wasn't totally convinced that it would work. I am very happy to be proven wrong! Just follow the instructions. I know it sounds obvious, but really it does work and it works well. It isn't cheap, but so far I have made 3 small moulds (small ornament size, about 4cm long) and still have around 3/4 of the pack left. It sets perfectly, and is very easy to remove, just take your time with it and be gentle. Everything I have made has excellent detail. I have used good old plaster (the crafters type, mixed with water) and it's spot on. No hesitation giving 5 stars.

I love this stuff! It is fantastic when I want to make a mold of something on the fly, just pull out a couple bits of putty, mix them up, press the thing I want to mold, and 30-minutes later I'm ready to cast. It takes detail amazingly well and the putty is very easy to work with.
