Made a long 2 man job into a short 1 man job!
Install is a little tedious, and the instructions could use a little rewrite. I used lag bolts instead of deck screws for mounting just for extra security and piece of mind. If you have a laser level it definitely helps keep things aligned. Remember to keep tension on the cables when wenching so they don't kink or get tangled up. Once installed removing the top couldn't be easier! 10 out of 10 stars! It doesn't come with bolts for the studs so get some ahead of time (you will need 16)

Good Product
So, I'd give this product four and a half stars if that was an option. Docking it half a star because installation is just not as straight forward as you may think. As far as value for the dollars spent this is an excellent buy. It's all there and operates as advertised. Some thoughts from my experience. 1. ensure that the two over vehicle pulleys are VERY much parallel to the track of the vehicle as it's parked in the garage. One of my pulleys is about an inch off line and when the top is raised it swings to that offset about 6 inches or so over the length of the top as it's longer than the distance between the pulleys. 2. I'm a natural worrier so I placed soft foam under the straps where it contacts the top to avoid the possibility of it marring or scratching the paint. 3. Installation video and pics show the system being installed on exposed studs and rafters. My garage walls are finished, so it was not as easy as it is shown to be. Plus, I would worry about the possibility of the screws flexing in that soft drywall gap between the 2x6's and the studs and not having the screws fully set in the rafters above the vehicle. Also, I bought stainless steel screws for use in attaching all of the 2x6's. 3. My installation is a cross between a rear mount and a side mount of the hoist. Mine is diagonal. Works fine though. 4. My light duty drill works fine on the hoist. But I have to help it lift the top to the ceiling. If you purchase one of these systems you may want to invest in a drill with enough power to raise the top by itself. 5. I still do not think that investing in a powered lift would be worth it from a practical sense. Top removal and re-installation is not something you do daily, and using the drill is very easy. 6. Suggested load test: After install I removed the JL top and after adjusting the cables for level I lifted the top about 2 inches off the floor and left it there for half a day. after checking all physical attachments for signs of failure or separation (none noted) I then took the top to the ceiling where it is now, as I write this. 7. Make sure the rear hook on the JL version is FULLY over the outer body and headliner before closing the rear window. That shaped piece will easily slide in between the inner and outer molded top pieces. If it's between the two it will put stress on that rear glass. Huge no-no. 8. A small tube of grease came with my kit. It's not listed in the parts list and no instructions are provided as to where to use this grease. 9. Although the top was leveled at 2 inches off the floor it is a bit nose down when all the way up. I think this is because as the hoist coils up the cables it does not evenly wrap them around the drum. One cable will tend to ride on top of the coils while another may spread more evenly from side to side on the drum....so one cable will travel more distance with each revolution of the drum. I'd call that normal and not worth running it up and down just to even it for looks. Your call. Lastly, if I were to improve this product in any way I'd adjust it so you'd simple bring the straps around just in front of the Side windows and connect the two eyelets on the lifting strap with a hook of some sort. That would eliminate the elevator bolts and really simplify and quicken the overall lifting process. You'd have to separate the two overhead pulleys by about six more inches. But, I can't think of a reason this could not be done. Engineers, weigh in anytime. PS. My wife is the proud owner of the JL and she loves this product. Acutually in awe of it. She operates the drill as I give a minor assist to the top. Will be investing in a better drill soon.

2022 hard top it works
Watch the you tube video. This was so easy to install. Makes it easy to remove my top. Stores right in the roof. Comparative to other models this is a great value at this price point. All materials are good quality and rated for my JLU roof. Took the roof off by myself in 12 minutes

Wish I’d Known Before Buying—Save Yourself the Headache
1. Unboxing & First LookThe product itself seemed decent out of the box, but the written instructions were anything but clear. Every step felt like a puzzle missing half its pieces.2. Diving into the InstructionsI turned to the included booklet first—big mistake. Vague diagrams, minimal text, and no sense of sequence left me guessing what went where. After 30 minutes of rereading the same paragraph, I gave up and headed to YouTube.3. YouTube MarathonThe official videos were a slight improvement, yet still skipped critical details. I had to replay sections five or six times just to keep pace, pausing constantly to double‑check part orientation.4. The Five‑Hour “Quick Install”From opening the box to the “finished” lift‑top, I clocked five hours of careful, methodical work. Even then, the lid refused to rise evenly—one side sits a good inch higher than the other.5. Round Two on the HorizonTo straighten the top, I’ll need to loosen everything, nudge parts millimeter by millimeter, and tighten it all up again. Realistically, that’s another 90 minutes—if I’m lucky.6. Final TakeI went for the budget option and learned the hard way: you really do get what you pay for. If you value your time (and your sanity), look elsewhere. Spend a few extra dollars on a different model with clearer instructions.

It's ok
The product is easy to install and works for the most part. You do need to play with the length of the cables when you raise it otherwise the front end of the top will tip forward and not be level. Outside of that it works and love having the top out of the way.

Watch the youtube videos
Good quality product. Instructions not great but a video or 2 helps a lot. Product has improved some of the components since some of the videos.
