Indigo is a Direct Dye. Henna is not.
This is more of a PSA than a review. My review is simple: this is indigo. it works like indigo.About indigo: Indigo is a direct dye. It stains dark blue (it can stain clothes and plastic containers). It takes roughly 20 minutes for the dye to release. It must be used right away. Have you ever used a product that is labeled 'semi-permanent'? That is a direct dye. Direct dyes sit on top of the hair shaft (they do not penetrate), and so they rinse out to a degree over time.Henna is not a direct dye. Lawsone, the chemical that produces the orange-red color of henna, has an affinity for keratin in the hair and skin. It binds to hair permanently and to skin temporarily. To the lady who mixed indigo with henna and left it in her fridge overnight:You didn't use indigo on your hair for color (pretty obvious based on your photo). Yes, you put indigo powder in your henna, but indigo dye releases in about 20 minutes and will not dye anything after a few hours. So you wasted a bunch of indigo and made your henna smell worse. You also mixed your indigo with hot coffee. DO NOT DO THIS. Dye won't release. Henna requires neutral ph (7 - water) or something acidic to lower ph (lemon juice) for dye to release. Indigo requires neutral ph (7 - water) or higher for dye release. Coffee is acidic. You can put this in your henna if you want. Neither henna nor indigo belong in a refrigerator. To the lady who expected this to be black and wants to make soap:Indigo dye is dark blue. Henna dyes hair orange red. Orange-red + blue = brown. If indigo was black, then it would cover any color. Before synthetic dyes, indigo was how we got all those awesome washes of denim. For anyone who is curious, here is a quick guide to 2 step henna/indigo: 1. henna: mix with water and wait for 3 hours before you apply. Apply and leave on for 2-3 hours. Rinse. Any unused henna can be frozen for later. Shampoo will help prep for indigo. 2. Indigo: mix with water and apply it right away. The dye will start to release while you are applying. leave on for 30 min to an hour. Rinse. Don't shampoo.Hope this helps!

HUGE WOWThe result is amazingI mix this brand Henna indigo 40% 80 g with the regular "red" henna 60% 120 g, because my hair is 3 C tyoe mid lenght. I mix the 2 powder in separate bowl, Indigo with hot coffee, red henna with hot water, added in each bowl 1 tb of oilive oil (for my dry hair) and 1 tn of cider vinegar with 3 drops of lavender essential oil. the 2 mix sit 1 night in the fridge. then mixed the 2 bowls to get a beautiful Chesnut/ light chocolate colorAs my hair is very low porosity 3C type, i left the mixed henna 5 hours on my hair, rinsed with conditionner. My hair is super shiny soft, as they are back to life. I loved because this product it comes with 2 pairs of gloves and 2 capsI had chemicals highlight i was a dark ginger blond, now a beautiful chocolate.Thank you

TURNS HAIR & SKIN "ORANGE" BUT WORKS WELL WITH "INDIGO POWDER" TO DYE GREY HAIR DARK
YES, HENNA TURNS YOUR HAIR & SKIN A "BRIGHT ORANGE" BUT WORKS WELL WITH "INDIGO POWDER" TO DYE GREY HAIR A DARK COLOR...SOMETIMES BROWNISH, SOMETIMES CLOSER TO BLACK DEPENDING ON HOW MANY TIMES YOU USE INDIGO & YOUR LUCK! IT WORKS WELL FOR THOSE, LIKE MYSELF, WHO ARE ALLERGIC TO CHEMICAL DYES. IT'S ALSO FUN TO SEE PEOPLE'S REACTION TO YOUR BRIGHT ORANGE HAIR!

It works
I"m new to darkening my grey hairs, this brand works way better than another one I used. Two step henna/indigo for dark hair.

doesn't work
it looks like henna, smells like henna. when you wet it and come back to it 3 hours later it turns all the same colors henna normally does. i had it in my hair for 4 hours like i usually do, (been using henna paste for over 13 years) and this.. i do not understand, it didn't dye my hair at all. my roots are still grey with no color change.

Good Quality Indigo
The only indigo that works on my stubborn silver white hairs. I tried so many other brands and they did not work on my hair.

I don’t recommend for hair
This was my first experience with indigo powder. I convinced my husband to let me try some henna and indigo on his salt and pepper hair. I originally bought a “dark brown” henna but it made his hair really auburn. Not good. I did some reading and adding Indigo is supposed to cancel out the red and produce a truer brown-black.This turned my husband’s hair straight up dark blue even though I used it mixed with the dark brown henna powder. Lol, he wasn’t happy.I have no idea what to do with this bag now. Maybe I can use it to color cold process soap?I don’t suggest putting it in your hair unless blue is your goal. But it IS Indigo powder, so it’s definitely indigo. Proceed with caution.
