Closest to Chicago you can get!
My husband is a Chicago transplant(30 yrs) and we have been searching for years in vain for good HOT giardiniera that we can get in California. In years past we have hand-carried jars from Chicago on trips back (as well as pizza, cheeses, Polish and Italian sausages, hot dogs). Finally I thought to look on Amazon and I bought this brand based on one of the reviews from another Chicago transplant. We were not disappointed! I will be ordering again, in spite of having to pay for shipping! We like it that much and we just can find anything close here. Life is too short to eat mediocre food!P.S. Still can't find good Italian beef sandwiches, but I have found a killer recipe and now make my own!P.S.S. Several have asked for the recipe so I am including it here:The version I like uses a crockpot and can be found on [...]. There are other versions that are roasted in the oven, but this one is easy. If your crockpot is not big enough for this much meat and liquid, just buy a smaller roast and adjust the liquid amounts if necessary. I actually bought a bigger crockpot just for this recipe! (Somewhere, my husband was told that the best Italian beef is made with the inside round cut--but I am not sure what that is..Rump works great and I have seen more recipes using rump..) Here it is:1 beef tip sirloin roast (I use rump or inside round) 4 -5 lbs1 can beef broth (14 1/2 oz)1 can 12 oz beer or additional beef broth (I use more broth)1 cup of water1/4 cup cider vinegar1 envelope onion soup mix1 envelope Italian salad dressing mix1 clove garlic (I use 2)1 1/2 tsp. dried oregano1 tsp. dried basilPlace roast in slow cooker. Combine all ingredients and pour over roast. Cover and cook on low for 7-8 hours. (or high 4-5 hrs) Remove roast and when cool enough to handle, shred meat using 2 forks. return to slow cooker and heat through. Serve on warm hoagie roll of your choice. Add giardineria and au jus on the side for dipping. This also freezes well so you can enjoy the taste of Chicago anytime!!! Enjoy! :

Blue Chip Banger
It's by far the best tasting hot giardiniera I've ever tasted. I've been buying it for years and add it to so many dishes. I absolutely recommend this product.

Needs Improvement
I have tried quite a few different brands giardiniera, needles to say, I won't get this brand again. At first I thought it was all peppers but the little veggies they added were at the bottom and I mean little. I was not a fan of the taste either, it was more like pickled jalapeños from a can with no other spices. I like my giardiniera crunchy and with olives and celery and also flavor, this was not it. I honestly find the cheaper more common store brands like Vienna and Marconi much tastier.

I love good hot giardiniera
I love good hot giardiniera, and this one is no exception. The holy grail is the Potbelly's brand "hot peppers", which are really the bar to reach. Unfortunately, they currently cost a fortune on Amazon and there are no local stores. Marconi is another brand that's a tasty mixture and seems to have a higher ratio of serrano peppers. Dell'alpe has a bit more of a sour flavor and isn't as crunchy. It's delicious, but I'll be sticking to Marconi for value and taste.
