Great for hiking and river walking
Bought these for a cruise i went on back in may. They were super comfortable and fit perfectly. The closed toe made them great for shore excursions like hiking. They held up really well in the water. My feet did not feel tired after the hike due to the lightweight nature of them.Only complaint was when walking the river/waterfalls, rocks and sand would get in the shoe and was hard to get out without taking the entire shoe off.

Great all purpose shoes
Wear them just about everywhere and good for being in water - dry out quickly and don't smell. Very comfortable.

The fit I can count on !
I had some Keen Arroyo sandals prior to these and I really enjoyed them. I am happy to say that my new pair of Arroyo fit perfectly and the toe box is nice and wide. We will be going to Mexico this winter and will be doing lots of walking and hiking, I already know my feet will be comfortable and protected. I am so happy that Keen has not changed these one bit.

Good shoe alternative for grumpy feet
I got these Keens because I cannot wear regular shoes for the time being, due to a severely arthritic left-big-toe joint (surgery is scheduled) and I needed something closer to closed-in shoes than my sandals. (I have a pair of Keen Newports, but they are several years or more old and no longer comfortable.) I am well satisfied with them. They are the most comfortable footwear I've been able to find, and I've tried a lot of different shoes/sandals over the past 9 months or so. A couple of caveats: (1) these do tend to run a bit large and (2) a custom insole is advised. With respect to no. 1, although I said that they "fit as expected," that's because I first tried them on in a Keen store. I wear size 14 shoes and they had a pair of 14s there. When I tried them on, they seemed a bit too loose in the heel. The saleswoman told me they run large and I should try 13s, which they didn't have. So I initially ordered a pair of 13s from Amazon. (This review applies to both sizes 13 and 14, which I ordered next.) They fit OK, but there was no room in them for socks, plus I couldn't use my favorite Superfeet insoles in them because of course, they were too long. So I sent them back and got the pair of size 14s that I have now. As expected, they are a bit loose in the heel, but that can be compensated by tightening them as much as possible. Re. caveat no. 2, as with most shoes, I have found the insoles that come with these sandals to be inadequate. They are much more comfortable for me with my own insoles. That said, the nice thing about these hybrid sandal-shoes, is that they can take custom insoles. On the other hand that means that even though they are labeled "waterproof" I wouldn't treat them as if they are.The most important thing (for me) is that they are all-around comfortable. They don't irritate my arthritic toe and with the Superfeet insoles in, they provide the support I need. I wore them yesterday for a 30-minute workout on an elliptical trainer with no problems.

KEEN SHOES: I'm a fan!
Although I feel that the Arroyo sandals fit slightly larger and wider than other Keen sandals I own (I have about a dozen pairs) they can easily be cinched up tight with the drawstring. They are indeed comfortable enough for all-day wear, and provide very adequate arch support for me (I have flat feet!).I do have two minor complaints: Unlike my other Keen sandals that have an elastic cinch-string, these have a non-stretch cinch. It's also a bit smaller in diameter than the elastic ones. The reason I point this out is that they have a tendency to loosen over the course of the day.One could conceivably avoid this by sizing them when on, then tying an overhand knot over the cinch-string just behind the adjuster lock. However, that will make it more difficult when getting the sandals on and off.The second issue concerns the sole. Yes, it's true that this is a deeply lugged sole, and is very well suited for day hikes. However, my experience over the past week, or so, is that the soles do not do well over any wet or damp surface. It causes the sole to slip, lose traction and slide. This is apparent on a wet floor, and suggests to me that they may not perform well on the train when climbing slick rocks, or those covered in moss.I should note that I have similarly found that the Keen H2 sole is very slippery on wet surfaces, in spite of the fact that they are designed for water sports. Looking at those one would assume that they had great traction on flat, wet surfaces due to their deck-shoe style treads ("razor-cut" type tread). Not the case, unfortunately. It's no secret that I'm a Keen fan, and also own several of their shoes, as well as specialized Keen cycling shoes (3 pairs!). I love the design of the Keens, and they allow me to walk in total comfort all day long. In particular, I enjoy the thicker, padded soles. They are well cushioned, and seem to last forever.I purchased my first pair of Keens about 12 years back (give or take), and still wear them. Very well constructed, well designed shoes. The Arroyo appears to be equally well made, and will (I hope) serve me well for many years to come.

Good pair of sandals zero
Very comfortable I’ve bought these before they always last me a year which I’m happy with because I’m always outside working in the yard, fishing, camping or even running errands in them. Every type of sandal like this will start to smell and pull cords loosen and stretch so paracord will fix string and a diluted bleach spray works also. I just feel for about $100 it’s worth buying knowing that they will last about a year. I’ve wanted to extend wearing them another year but tbh they hold sweat and my wife throws them away because smells up our closet even after thoroughly bleaching and using fabric sprays on them but it’s not brand specific as I’ve had every pair of outdoor hiking sandals just reek of salty foot. I live on Lake Huron and wear sandals daily when it’s warm enough and my favorite are Keen, owned probably every type and brand Keen seems to be more comfortable durable and the best brand out there for sandals. For people upset about smell you can probably prolong them by using foot deodorants but tbh I could care less I’m married have a kid last thing I’m worried about is a nice smelling pair of sandals. I work in our garden in these, mow lawn chase after a toddler and these fit my lifestyle perfectly. They are well made my feet are average width for 11 1/2 shoes I buy 12 in sandals and these fit perfectly not snug or loose. Just order a half size up and you’ll be fine.

... on the camino de santiago and they were absolutely perfect for me
I wore these on the camino de santiago and they were absolutely perfect for me. I didn't want to wear a closed hiking boot because I know the heat & sweat would have caused me blisters. We walked about 500 miles over about a month and they kept my feet pain free for the entire journey. I didn't get a single blister :) They kept my feet cool (or much cooler than a closed boot would). They seemed to be able to handle light rain without getting wet inside which was great. We walked one day in heavy constant rain and they did get pretty wet inside as you would expect. I have to say that even when they were wet they were still pretty comfortable. I stuffed them with newspaper in the evening and left them beside a radiator and by the next morning they were perfectly dry.SIZEAs other reviewers have said the fit on these shoes are slightly large. I bought a half size smaller than usual and they were perfect.A couple of minor problems:The quick release lace button on the right shoe was a bit loose so I had to tie a loose knot in the lace to stop it from loosening. No big deal for me really but it could probably be better, the left shoe didn't have the same problem.Stones sometimes got inside the shoe, but this is a sandal with gaps in the side so really that is to be expected. Because the gaps are quite high in the sandle it wasn't very regular that a large stone would get in and only took half a minute to remove it. Again not a big problem for me but worth noting. To finish on positive note, after 500 miles the removable footbed was showing signs of wear, I contacted Keen to ask if they sold the footbed seperately so that I could replace it and they have offered to send me a replacement footbed free of charge :)I have given the shoe 5 stars, despite the one or 2 small things I mentioned, thats because I found them incredibly comfortable and I don't think i could have been happier with any other shoe for walking the camino. I'd defintely buy another pair once these are worn out, which by the look of it coudl be quite a while, they still look practically new.

Nice looking shoe but they are NOT for hiking
These “hiking” sandals are definitely sandals, but they are NOT for hiking regardless of what the name says. Notice how there is no ankle support. This is probably a great shoe for someone out there, but just not me. I love Keens and have several pairs and have been a fan and worn them for a number of years. Notice that this shoe is really just a dressed up version of the H2 water sandal with thicker, aggressive hiking tread, but overall same design. The problem is that the area around, and below, the ankle is kind of stretchy identical to the H2. The “strings” are elastic, identical to the H2. The back is closed unlike the H2 which is nice to keep rocks from coming in from the rear. The one flaw of this type of Keen sandal is that there is no adjustment in the rear which means you never have snug fit. But make no mistake this is NOT, I repeat, NOT actual hiking shoe. It might be ok for level ground or in-town jaunts, but this shoe is unsafe on unlevel surfaces. It’s unsafe because there is no support to cinch up around your ankles like a actual hiking shoe (not a little day walker as is often portrayed as hiking shoes). I walk a quick routine route that is essentially level ground on a well maintained gravel road. I rolled my ankle right out the gate on the loose material because the sole is too high and the body of the shoe is too loose and stretchy even with the attempt to tighten them up. If you are an avid, serious hiker you will be unhappy with these, and if you are a serious hiker, you probably see this anyway just by looking at the shoe. You could never use this shoe on a real trail or rugged terrain. I’ve had several pair of H2 sandals and love them for what they are. I don’t take joy in saying it, but because the H2 has a sole with a lower profile, they are actually safer than these, which is the same shoe but with a taller tread. I would say these actually might be great as water shoe like the H2, BUT the outer visible part is leather, at least that’s what’s it supposed to be, and would stretch out when wet, And under the leather, as you could guess, is the identical same material as the H2. This shoe has an awesome looking design, but that’s about it. Even use on level ground like in a city is, in my opinion, and that’s all it is, is risky. If you caught the edge of curb or uneven floor of an entrance, you could end up TO on the concrete. These are really just an outdoorsy looking pair of slippers. Again, taller tread and too loose fitting with no ankle support is a recipe for a busted ankle or worse depending on where you down. Just buy regular Keen hiking boots. If you want hiking footwear then buy a real hiking shoe. If you want sandals, buy sandals, but this hybrid of the two is probably not the best choice even though they look sexy. Just sayin.’

Fantastic sandals!
Fantastic sandal. My husband has another pair and he loves them so much I ordered another pair in a different colour. He has very sensitive feet due to arthritis and these give him plenty of room and are so comfortable. Good quality as well. Thank you Amazon for your prompt service. Cheers Kim
