Beautiful pickup, clear tone, works well
This is from one of my favorite sellers, CB Gitty. I decided to try this on a lark because I like the way it looks. It is well-worth the purchase. The ears of the pickup are vinyl plastic-- unlikely to mar the finish of your guitar. Underneath are metal swivel-clamps that allow the device to clamp on to a variety of sound hole sizes.Inside (I am told by Gitty) is a basic single-pickup topped with a golden foil for appearance (and perhaps distribution of magnetic waves, I'm not certain on that aspect). What I know is that the sound is distributed evenly across the strings, with both bass and treble having equal power and neither overriding the other. Whereas some pickups tend to over-emphasize or lose the treble, this pickup seems nicely balanced between the two.Because it is a single pickup the natural voice tends to be a bit on the treble side, while still honoring bass tones. If you wish a more mellow, heavier bass side the solution to this is turn the treble and mids on your amp completely down and crank the bass knob. This produces a very mellow "blues" tone that is very satisfying. If you want high-cranked rock, turn all the amp tone knobs to max and kick in the overdrive. I'm sure you'll get a very satisfactory result. This pickup maintains integrity even when distorted... something rare in less-expensive pickups. It has to be realized this isn't a $200 pickup system, so one shouldn't expect miracles. But it delivers more than is expected for the price and produces a nice, consistent, pleasant tone across all spectrums of sound. I make and sell pickups myself, so when I compliment a competitive pickup you can trust the compliment. I will be honest and state this doesn't produce the sound of a humbucker nor should it be expected to, but it comes surprisingly close to the tone of a P90.An instruction page on the CB Gitty website shows how to adapt this pickup to standard electric, hollowbody and Cigar Box Guitar use, which makes it a very versatile pickup. If you're looking for a low-cost pickup that offers stable sound, I recommend this very nice-looking offering.

Good price for single coil sounds
I bought this to amplify my acoustic guitar like an electric. I had to take the cover off and remove the mounts to make it fit between the top of the guitar and strings. I got some noise since the pickup is not shielded, along with decent single coil sounds.

Amazing pickup for the money
This thing sounds much much better than I expected. I am plugging into a nice amp (fender deluxe reverb). To me it sounds kind of like an hollow body with a p90. Its not exactly going to retain the sound of your acoustic but it sounds like a nice electric. There is some hum but nothing out of the ordinary for a single coil. I had to bend the metal brackets a bit to get it to fit on my guitar but that was okay. Overall very pleased. Happy to be able to gig with my acoustic now.

Does its job then some!
Does its job and then some. Stuck this pickup into a stella parlor guitar (think Blind Lemon Jefferson here) and with some adjustment it fits well. Had to bend the chassis a bit. The ad did mention that the chassis was plastic/vinyl, but it was a light(ish) metal alloy painted black. Not complaining! This might be harder to cut for a mod but is more for your money and modifiable none-the-less for those interested in doing so. The pick Up sobically is a pretty faithful replication of a Japanese gold-foil, and cosmetically very close as well, aside the black paint, which still looks slick. At this price point this is remarkable! Seems roadworthy in its construction. Ease of use is on point. Economic, ergonomic, and sounds like a mo-fo. Thanks again C.B. Gitty!

Okay for the price
This is okay if you need an entry level simple pickup. Has a clear undistorted sound but pretty quiet, low volume, and not very full sounding. But for the price would work well for someone just wanting to amplify an acoustic guitar at home. Be careful when installing as it can scrape the finish around your sound hole.

Great for my acoustic and to adapt to an unusual use
Great product! I have a three pickup Japanese guitar from the mid-60s with two dead gold foils. I bought three of these, put one in an acoustic I have, and will use the internal parts of the other two in the housings of the dead gold foil pickups (yes, the covers will stick up a bit, but for my purposes that's okay). The one in the acoustic sounds strong, and these are higher output pickups than the mid-60s gold foils.

White label Chinese pickup
I bought this thinking it would look exactly like it does in the picture, but it seems like they just ordered a bunch from China and put their name on it. It looks slightly different than the one in the picture and when I took it apart, the gold foil on top was just a sticker on a piece of cardboard.
