Doing great!
Great price for a durable sail (after several months.). I used turnbuckles screwed directly into the wood of the house trim and heavy duty hooks into fence posts across the yard. The turnbuckles allow limited re-tightening. The sail will sag over time from weather so on the fence posts I attached it with 1” tensioning straps to the hooks. When it sags a little it’s just a minute or to to release a buckle strap latch, pull it tight, and close the buckle. Awesome solution.

Cooling Breezes
Bought this tarp a month ago and so far I feel it’s a pretty good product. We had to take down a Maple tree (scales) next to the pergola, and sad to see it go after 15 years. We knew it was going to open up the area to a lot more sun. We really liked the shade and cooler area of the pergola under the Maple and were accustomed to it. The plants liked it too, but, with the tree gone, they began to complain about the heat and constant sun. So, we started to look for solutions. We looked at different tarps, how to use them and fasten them for shade, and how to set them in different configurations. For our purposes, we decided just to lay the tarp on top of the pergola and attach the corners to the pergola support posts. This turned out to be the easiest and best way for us. We bought a 12’ x 16’ tarp, graphite. On the day we put it up, it took approx 30 minutes to lay it out, adjust and move it into position (re: the sun’s movement during the day), drilling attachment points on the posts, and clipping the tarp to the posts. We read the instructions re: one side of the tarp is waterproof, the other side not. Reviewers here say it is waterproof, others say it isn’t, eh, who knows. All I know is, I did not want a waterproof tarp on top of the pergola, so before I put it up, I poured a few buckets of water on one side, then on the other. Honestly, I did not notice any difference. But, to keep myself from waking up in a cold sweat one rainy night, I put the tarp on the pergola with the binding and seams facing up and looking at the universe. During the rains this month, the water has been coming through the tarp freely. We are constantly surprised how this tarp keeps the area beneath it nice and cool. Very, veryimpressive. Even the Jade plant has let us know how happy it is. An added plus is that it also diffuses the sun light and creates a nicely shaded sitting area during the day. I definitely recommend these tarps.

I now understand why the furst buyer returned
This is the second time I’ve purchased this item. Unfortunately this time it was a return item. When i got it in the light it had looked like a bird pooped on it. Upon closer examination it was a defective weave in an area which was only noticeable when light was shinning through it. I left this feedback with the manufacturer hoping they would recognize the issue and not place back on the market. I had bought one of these years ago and it’s great and provided excellent shade.

Perfect coverage!
We are living full time in an RV while we build our house. It is directly in the sun with absolutely no shade so it’s miserable during the day! We bought two 16’x20’ sun shades and they are perfect coverage! You can feel the temperature difference immediately! Completely blocks UV and it’s very durable even in the rain. Rain does come through but it’s good because it doesn’t puddle up on the shade. It was a bit of a task getting it set up just right but that is to be expected. Overall we are extremely happy with our purchase. Highly recommend!

Perfect alternative to permanent shade!
We use this on our dock by the lake and it is the perfect solution for shade instead of creating an expensive permanent overhead structure. The fabric is light and airy and wears well in sun and weather. It holds it size and does not stretch out. Easy to hang up and put down. Highly recommend!

Just a beautiful addition to my backyard patio
Way more affordable than a traditional awning and just as useful. We are now able to fully enjoy our space in the shade and it looks great. High quality and durable. I’ve had mine up for quite a few months and haven’t noticed and fading or staining for that matter. Definitely recommend 10/10!!!

SPF 15 at the very best
As the product description says, it blocks 95% of UV rays. SPF 15 is an equivalent of blocking 93.5% UV rays.Although the product is sturdy and sustained a few seasons with various elements, it doesn't provide desired shade as one would expect. Objects under the canvas still cast a substantial shade. Also, I tried to condition one of my house plants after staying indoors for winter and the plant got burns instantaneously. It also feels very hot under it as if you're under open sun.

Actual Dimensions Like a Tarp
I have seen reviews on various shades (not just this brand) where the people are surprised that it is smaller than the title dimensions. I think they should be clearer about it, but all tarp products use the maximum unfinished dimensions. The sewn edges are subtracted from that. These types of shades are even smaller because, as is obvious in the photos, they are curved to provide an even tension along the edges. These are about 1.5 feet smaller in each dimension than the stated size. I suspect larger ones get progressively smaller to provide the required curve along a longer length. Also, be aware that any thin single surface will absorb the heat and re-radiate some as infrared. You're not in the sun, but it's not like shade from a tree. To get the most cooling, you would have to use two with a space between them or have an insulated shade. See the Webb Space Telescope heat shield.

Good shade
It’s good quality. And has lasted 3 summers now without any deterioration or damage. Mild fading but that’s the power of the sun.The dimensions are corner to corner but the side so taper in

Nice Eco-Friendly Shade Solution
So happy to have discovered this shade sail! For the price, the quality is better than expected. We didn't purchase the hardware kit as the setup here required wooden posts, some common, easy to find strong hardware, and regular camping rope. We skipped the included rope, as it is way too slippery and thick to be able to tie off tightly and safely. You do have to pull it fairly snugly, and we found camping rope, the nylon kind, gives a nice taught sail.So eco friendly too since you're not dealing with a soft top gazebo that lasts a couple summers and then off to the landfill it goes. Or a cold, metal hardtop gazebo that doesn't suit everyone's setting and creates a massive amount of waste if ever it gets taken down/replaced.This sail creates a fresh and airy look that is light and comfortable. Definitely going to buy another in red for next summer so as to change up the look. Highly recommend if you're comfortable with a little DIY, as every setup is different.I would recommend taking it down when rain is expected since accumulated rain water will weigh the sail down and stretch it out saggy in the middle. It will still let water through, so you can't use it as a rain shelter. We take it down when not in use. Makes a great privacy curtain, too! :-)
