So Perfect for Right Now
Our family is very active, and both of my kids are scouts. We hike, camp, the whole nine yards. This lockdown has been tough on everyone, and we're certainly more limited in the types of things we can do with all the state and national parks in our area being shuttered. This guide/activity book is perfect for what we're dealing with right now, and going forward. It focuses your girl's attention on certain aspects of nature, and gives plenty of opportunity for jotting down observations, drawing, listing what she sees, and even has some fun games like word searches. Even better, I can use this for science lessons as part of our impromptu homeschooling, as it's teaching her how to collect and record data. Fantastic! There is a lesson on weather logs, including how to estimate wind speeds. I mean, this is not only an activity which gets a girl active and OUTSIDE, but it's teaching them legit things. We may not be able to quite finish the spring chapter with the quarantine, but we will finish this book. This is a really cool idea, and I definitely recommend it for y'all stuck homeschooling.

Pretty illustrations and gentle writing prompts
My Nature Journal and Activity Book is an illustrated beginner's guide to nature journaling. Released 7th April 2020 by Sasquatch Books on their Little Bigfoot imprint, it's 208 pages and available in diary format (as a physical book, no ebook format as far as I can see). For journalers who are intimidated by a blank page staring at them, this is a perfect start. The book has pages and pages of gentle writing prompts: where I explored, what I saw, what I took with me, how I felt, three words that describe my day. Interspersed between the writing exercises are really useful informational pages full of nature tutorials with lists of equipment and useful tools, weather essentials, and safety tips. The illustrations are attractive and calming and the writing is clear and accessible. This would make a superlative gift for a young writer (really all ages, but mostly slanted to girls or young women in my opinion). Four and a half stars.Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

Overall Great Seasonal Nature Activity Book but Some Odd Stuff Included
This is a nature journal and activity book organized by seasons with a wide variety of things to do including sketching, word searches, scavenger hunts, and writing. Other than being intended for girls, I'm not certain what age is being targeted other than being able to read is a requirement. I say this because a few of the exercises such as the fill in the blank word for a short fairy tale seems a bit more like a grammatical lesson than a nature task. A few suggestions such as practicing wet weather fire building (with an adult) is tough even for an adult. I like the short explanation about weather and appreciated learning again how barometric pressure works. There are a couple of DIY projects such as building a backyard weather station and a fish viewing trap included although I haven't tried either of these. I wish some other areas had a bit more explanation like weather section does. I would not expect even many adults to know what a macro lens of a camera is (it's used to take pictures of really small subjects despite being called a macro). Fortunately, most of the activities seem meaningful and stretches observational and imaginative skills such as not only observing animals, but trying to see things from their perspectives. There are lots of pages for writing and keeping logs as the seasons change. My rating is 4 stars for I think this is a wonderful tool for the budding young naturalist. I only wish for a bit more explanation and perhaps some safety hints for some of the more adventuresome activities such as bouldering, fire building, white water rafting, etc.

Potential for tons of fun....
This is such a wonderful, lovely book. I know it's meant for girls, but I love it even as an adult. (I saw that the author also has a book called "A Woman's Guide to the Wild", which I'm super curious to check out, too.) There are plenty of fun and useful things that I can pass onto my boys to do, too. It has space to write and draw thoughts, but it's also full of nature lessons(like types of clouds and wind intensity), experiments(building a fish trap viewer and panning for gold, for example), games(crossword puzzles, fill in the blanks, etc), story writing prompts, quotes, logs(adventures, weather, bugs, animals, and birds), and so much more good stuff. I've enjoyed it and it has potential for tons of fun.

Such an amazing little journal
This journal is so much more than I was expecting. It is divided into seasons and there are activities and thought-provoking journal entry inspiration for your little nature explorer. I love that there is a lot of detail at the beginning of the book as to how to use the book, and information for your little guide to be the BEST guide. We normally do a lot of camping but since we are amid a pandemic we have to hold off on using this book at the moment. But once things calm down my 7 year old will definitely bring this on all of our nature walks and hikes.

Great for someone who journals & loves the great outdoors!
What a creative outdoor journal. I cannot wait to use this with my oldest. There are so many creative entries, from the weather, to what you saw, what clues to animals in the area, and so much more! There are little activities in here too. This book is a great companion to bring out in the woods at your own home, on the trail, etc. This book is going to get a lot of use in my house. This is such a great find! I highly recommend! Great for someone who loves to journal, and the great outdoors!

Nature Journal and Activity Book
This is a nature journal and activity book for exploring nature. It is a journal so that you can record things, but it also has activities. It has word searches, along with other activities. It's enough to keep a young girl busy, happy, and interested all year. The book is divided up into all four seasons. I love the pretty green and leafy plants that the book is decorated with.
