This is the best book I found as we embarked upon adding ducklings to our household. Lisa Steele shares her considerable wisdom in a way that’s both informative and fun. Whether you’re raising ducks for pets or for food production, she does a nice job of speaking to the many facets of what these birds offer, and includes an everything you need to know. 100% recommend this book, her website, and her products.

My ducklings are only two weeks old but my kids and I have already had hours and hours of enjoyment watching them. This book has been a lifesaver for a first-time ducky Mom. The ducks love the clumps of grass in the brooder and the fresh herbs in their water. They were so cute diving under the water on their first short trip swimming in their plastic tub. There is so much in this book that my local supply store didn’t know. Things that are vital for the ducklings’ health and wellness. I will refer back to this book over and over.The day after we brought them home I started thinking ‘WHAT did I do? Should I find them a better home? I can’t do this.’ I read this book over two days and came out filled with confidence and ready for the work and excitement ahead. Definitely recommend to every new and experienced family with backyard ducks!

This is the best book ever. I purchased this book about 9 months ago when I became a duck mom. I use it weekly. It’s so informative and helpful. If you want a book that can answer all your duck questions , buy this one.

Excellent resource for new and seasoned duck owners alike! Read it from cover to cover it two sittings. I had already purchased me two ducks and quickly realized that I needed some more information. They have different nutritional needs and I wanted to make sure I did my best with them. This book helped me so much and was fun to read. I love my ducks, they’re a joy to watch. I recommend a duck to anyone. I think I might like them more than chickens. They’re more mellow. At least mine are mellow and are sweet with the two chickens I raised them with. This book will tell you everything you need to know!

Clearly written and easy to follow along. This book makes think I could raise ducks - it’s an easy read with good pictures.

Pro's: - Covers a broad range of topics for beginners - gives the reader an idea of what owning ducks is like/what to expect - excellent resource pages at the back for further learning - explores different bedding options, diet selection, number of birds (and sex) for a beginners flock, etc. -Quick and easy read Con's - while many important topics are covered (everything from ducklings, housing, feeding, behavior, to minor injuries) each topic isn't covered in extensive detail. This left me wondering about specifics or alternative options on certain topics. - there is a first aid section, but it's minimal and the author only focuses on natural methods. While I'm a fan of this, sometimes it's not enough. There are no alternatives given. Overall, It's a great beginners book. She covers a lot and sets realistic expectations. I think it's useful for a duck reference home library, however, I plan to have additional resources

Love this author, queen of the backyard birds!! Purchased her chicken book also, but I share a love with her of the ducks and this is a companion book for anyone wanting to raise ducks right! Thankful to have found Lisa!

The advice in this book is comprehensive, easy to follow, well organized, and reflects the passion of the author, which I now share, for ducks. I used much of the information as I started raising my own ducklings, and I will continue to as they grow. I found the tips on feeding supplements to especially useful, but she shares details from her experience and research that are very helpful in many other areas. I feel the value of the book is reflected in my happy, healthy birds.

This is the first resource I consult whenever I have a question about the health of my ducks. I have been raising ducks for 5 years now and I still reference it regularly.

We're new to keeping runner ducks, we have two (Grace and Frankie) and this book has been so helpful. It's really engaging and easy to read, full of very helpful information covering a wide range of areas - everything we've needed so far - and above all really practical. We've done lots of reading around the subject and struggled with so many books feeling a bit impenetrable... but this one has been so helpful, we keep going back to it for reference. Highly recommended for any one thinking about - or new to - keeping ducks.

Lovely easy to read book with inspiration to keep ducks. I would keep this as a reference book where to look up for quick info. I did like advice what care need for ducks and the herbs we can grow for them to give the best healthiest life. Their behaviour and lots more useful info. This book is for those who see their birds as loved pets and would do extra to make sure that ducks get all they need and feel happy through their life. Also I got book of this author "Fresh eggs daily" Chickens and would recommend both.
