The Montana 100% Extra Fine Wool Made in The USA Saddle Pad by Southwestern 3/4" or 1" Thick and Designer Wear Leather

I have a hard to fit Draft cross, with a flat back, went on two 6 hour rides in two days and he was so comfortable, kept him cool, and the saddle did not roll. I went to uncinch him and the cinch was loose but the pad kept everything in place. It is however 31x33, but still was plenty big enough. It is nice and thick. I was going to buy a 5 star but am saving for a custom saddle, so I decided to try this one, glad I did.

Good to have a choice of sizes. Pad appears well made from quality materials. Wicks sweat much better than the undersized pad it replaced; perhaps because the wool is not saturated with black dye. Some reviews suggest the leather is not as robust as other pads. I doubt this will be a problem. As always, time will tell. Cinch cutaways under the side leathers were unexpected. They seem to help the way the pad sits and should relieve the pressure under the cinch at the pad’s edge; I like them. Folks spotting the new pad check it out, like what they see, then and ask where I bought it. My horse hasn’t bucked me off yet - it’s safe to assume she’s happy too!

After three pretty long rides in some extreme humid conditions, this pad is great. It stays in place and fits my horse just right. Time will tell how it holds up but right now, I am very happy with it. And getting lots of positive comments because it looks great too!

Best saddle pad I've had yet. Wish it was a 28 instead of 27. But no biggy. I can leave my cinch looser, and there is NO slip when i mount. Great for leaving room on my mare's withers. I LOVE this saddle pad. I got the 3/4 by 27. Just took it on a long, up n down all around trail ride. Only had to readjust my saddle once after a pretty dang steep trail. And it was really just out of habbit. Never slips when i mount. Can't say enough great things about it.

Worked well and first ride was already shaping to him. He is very round so a good saddle fit now that my gelding is fully developed is quite difficult. Bought this pad to help that and it really seems to work well. He moved out nice and freely and had a nice even sweat mark when untacked. I can tell it has started molding to his body shape in just the first ride (I did make him sweat good, over the course of 3 short training sessions in the same day with breaks between each session). I knocked a star off due to the very strong smell that I've struggled to get aired out. Maybe this is common for 100 percent wool, not sure. He was terrified of this pad and I am certain it was due to the scent. I did 2 full on training sessions on 2 separate days just to be able to use it on him. He is not a very spooky horse but the first session took 2 hours. He was very convinced it would eat him. Even after the first ride when I pulled it off him and laid it down he sniffed it and began snorting at it some. Clearly going to take a few super sweaty rides to make it smell more like a horse. He's never boogered at any saddling equipment or pads before and I've tried a few on him. That's the only reason I knocked a star off. Other than the scent being strong I've been very happy with it

I never write reviews but I’m Very happy with this pad! 27x27 is perfect for short backed animals! I always have a difficult time finding a pad that doesn’t interfere with the hip. I also appreciate that it doesn’t have such drastic spine contour as too many pads have. Works great for short and flat-backed mules and donkeys! The quality for the price is very nice! I’m happy with this pad. Thank you

This is been a really good saddle pad. It does not leave a sweat mark behind when I work my horses.
