The M830 is powered by The King, the legendary engine by Johan de Koning, known for an active, attacking, human-like playing style rather than cold, perfect calculation.

How does the board recognize my moves — does it use magnets?

The M830 uses high-sensitivity pressure sensors built into each square. Simply press down on the square as you move your piece, and the board registers the move instantly.

Is this suitable for beginners, or only advanced players?

Both. The M830 adapts from 300 to 2400 ELO, with Coach Mode hints for newer players and full tournament-strength play for advanced and expert-level competitors.

Can I play against other people online, or only against the computer?

Out of the box, the M830 plays solo against The King engine. To play online against real opponents on Chess.com, Lichess, or Tornelo, add the optional Millennium ChessLink module.
