TomTom USB Cable(Discontinued by Manufacturer)

Not all cables are the same: some are "data cables", some are "charging cables". A data cable can transfer data between a device and a laptop and *also* charge the device, a charging cable will only charge a device. Charging cables are cheaper because they are simpler. So if you see a very cheap cable, odds are that it will only charge.There is always a worry, therefore, in purchasing a cable over the Internet. Will that cheap cable work as advertised? That's why Amazon can be safer than Ebay -- you do have some recourse if what you are getting is not what you think was advertised. Let the buyer beware: if Amazon doesn't guarantee the shipping, that cheap cable may end up being a rip-off. It's also helpful in looking at the ratings of the seller (if not Amazon): do they have a history of sending out counterfeit or faked products?When I bought this cable, it was advertised as a data cable. It is made in China, but so are most cables these days. Since Amazon guaranteed the shipping and so I figured that the odds were good that what I paid for was what I would get. The good news is that this cable is, in fact, a true data cable. Happiness!

This did pretty good for us. Didn't last especially long, but it was used in a business and they were not kind to it.

The cable fit my TomTom wonderfully

I was under the impression that I would be able to update my TomTom with this cable but I cannot. I am not saying that the cable is the problem, it may be my computer. A couple of days before the cable arrived, the car cable I had for my TomTom quit working so I am grateful this arrived and worked in the car to assist with the weekend trip I had planned.

This cable replaced the original TomTom (Via1605) that intermittently disconnected from the computer during updates so the update process either did not work or took hours. I tried another replacement cable that claimed to be TomTom compatible but that cable had a bigger male connector and was straight. The cable I got from Amazon is a real TomTom cable (with angled connector) and worked perfectly. Don't purchase other types that claim to be TomTom cables if they appear to have a straight connector--they will not work and you'll waste your money. Purchase this cable thru Amazon. It works.

Although this item was acceptable, it was learned that the rubber insulation interfered with the plug in opening of the Tom Tom. This was corrected by sanding the excess rubber off of the cable plug. We were not able to get electrical contact without accomplishing this modification.

Ordered this August 15, 2011 and am still waiting for it to arrive. No tracking info available either. When I ordered it said it might take 4-6 weeks, but who takes that long to ship nowadays? (I'm sure the cable will be fine so labeled it 4 stars.)

Product was purchased, in order for me to connect my GPS to my computer in order for the GPS to get recommended updates.

I bought this replacement cable for my Tom Tom Go 300, the cable was despatched and received very quickly, it is exactly as described and worked perfectly, very good price too, highly recommended.

Found the cable very flimsy - it got caught inside the steering wheel & stopped working - got a solid one to replace - Minin USB Charge Sync Lead Cable for GPS!

So much cheaper than an official Tom Tom cable but this is good quality and works really well. You don't always get what you pay for. This is brilliant and recommended to everyone

Apart from being told by this supplier a number of times that this usb cable will fit my Tom Tom 500, I assure you that it dose not. the cable received has a mini plug fitted, the tom tom go 500 requires a micro plug. i must also state that i found the suppliers reply to my request for help in the matter unhelpful. Tom Yom have assured me that a usb micro plug is required.
