how long before they can be planted?

I would stick the sticks in water but make sure the roots dont get too tangled. Plant them in pots-DO NOT USE PLANT FOOD! (thats what killed mine in the ground) Keep them potted through Winter, plant in thr Spring. This way you can keep an eye on them

Could I grow them in the house all winter?

yes you will probably want a grow light in about a month. This is Dec 1st

Hybrid with what? how wide and tall can i expect these to mature to. growing in northeast kansas.

Poplar and willow. You can plant them together to form a hedge or single trees. I’m not sure on total height, 20-30’ trees. I’m planting mine in north central Missouri. You should be fine.
