Q: if you used terro how does this compare?

I have used Terro and I have found Optigard to be considerable more effective. What has worked well for me is to identify where the ants are coming from, and where their trails are. I then place a bead of about 1/2 inch, or so, near the entrance and on the trails. (If you are concerned about about pets or children touching the gel you might cut one inch pieces of drinking straws and put the bead of gel inside those) The ants are quickly attracted to the gel and you need to leave it alone. The ants will take the gel back to the nest and use it to feed the queen and the young ants. They will quickly die (a couple of days) and once the life cycle of ants is relatively short a dead queen means ne new ants. I've had really good results doing this.

Q: Is this for sugar ants or protein ants?

Optigard attracts both sugar and protein ants. They have another product, Advion that is designed for sugar ants only.

Hi! No---it has no odor that I've noticed, and you use very little at a time. You need to put it in the path of the ants and just little dabs at a time. It's a pretty thick gel so it sticks up around the ceilings, under a countertop edge, etc... just keep it away from pets and kids!

Purely speculating that it’s due to an ingredient whose use is controlled / or banned in some way at the state level for CT that limits shipment directly to consumers
