Good product, but make sure you understand the paper insert warning that comes with it
As others have metioned- the Tripp Lite TLM825SA is well built, has an all metal case, and will do what I need. However, there were some specs I had to hunt for in the product description. I'll list them here in case someone else wants to know this information: Model: Tripp Lite TLM825SA Surge suppressor: Yes, 3900 Joules Total equipment load: 15 amps on the entire circuit Circuit breaker: yes, trips if the load is greater than 15 amps USB charging ports: None Plug type: straight, 3-prong Extension cord wire gauge: 14 AWG And maybe the wording on the insert is important for folks to know (which isn't indicated anywhere in the product description): "CAUTION: Do not install this device if there is not at least 10 meters (30 feet) or more of wire between the electrical outlet and the electrical service panel. This device features an internal protection that will disconnect the surge protective component but will maintain power to the load - now unprotected. If this situation is undesireable for the application, follow the manufacturer's instructions for replacing the device." You'd think they would put that upfront when you buy it.

solid, reliable, well made and sounds good (?!?!?)
this is for the electric guitarists and bassists out there: skip all that furman junk and power conditioner blah blah, blah. and for the love of G major, get rid of that orange or green home depot extension cord you've been using since high school. go for this and get the 25 footer. its cheaper and it really does sound better. especially compared to that old extension cord. if you've got a tube guitar amp or a bass amp that can seriously thump, this power strip will be able to keep up with the temporary energy surges necessary to fully transmit the punch of your sound. surge protectors often have limits placed that even things out too much for dynamic live music. they're great for computers and tvs, just not your marshall stack. i suggest googling "do i really need a power conditioner" and reviewing the discussions on gearslutz. i used to think i needed to spend thousands to get clean, clear-sounding power for critical audio applications. now, i know better. this particular power strip is made to power things like buzz saws which can temporarily demand more juice right when started up or when jammed into a dense piece of wood. that kind of power allows your tube amp to jump, as designed, when you hit your strings. all while providing clean, noise free power. when i purchased this strip, i wasn't expecting any audible difference. i was mainly looking for something to protect my tube amps from dangerous voltage spikes. but the improvement in dynamic range and punch was noticeable from the first moment of powering up, especially in the low end and even at low volumes. the tonal quality didn't change, it didn't color the tone. switching from steel to nickle strings is a bigger tonal profile change than this, it still sounded like my tube amp with its characteristic tonal profile. it also didn't make my amp any louder, either, not that i need extra volume, lol. it was subtly punchier and just a smidge more solid sounding in the low end, as compared to my old 25ft home depot extension chord. considering buying a second. still haven't bought a ferman rack mounted conditioner, lol.

Protect Your stuff From Surges!
We bought six of these for use with our tech equipment setup for a hotel based event, and these power strips are phenomenal. They withstand heavy use and provide clean, unwavering power. We had sensitive DJ gear running from these strips, and the strips did their job of providing steady AC power to equipment that can very easily be kicked off by power fluctuations. In one room, the strip kicked off from a venue power surge and did its job well, protecting our gear from electrical harm. Planning on buying several more to add to our tech kit - we discovered they are the same heavy traffic strips that our venue's iT team uses, and also spoke very highly of. Definitely recommend this great Tripp Lite product - the long cord on this strip makes it extremely useful, especially in combination with Gaffer Tape to run power across venue spaces for video and programming event rooms.

The format makes it easy to store the excess cord and convenient to mount on a board beside the lathe.

I've had the surge protector for approx. 6 months now, and have had 3 power outages, and no power return problems for my computer.
