SEIKO 5 (Seiko import) Automatic Watch SNZG09J1 imports

Decided to get a Seiko 5 because the model has been around since 1963 and seems to have won many fans with its ruggedness and straightforward design. I also decided to get the version made in Japan (SNZG09J1), as everything I'd read indicated that the ones made there are higher quality than one you'd get at most retailers in the U.S. (which I believe are made in Malaysia). How much higher, I can't say. But so far, the watch seems to be solidly made, with a nice hefty feel. The face of the SNZG09J1 is dark olive green and the strap is a slightly lighter olive green. The strap has an additional piece of material over the area where the holes are for reinforcement. Strap width appears to be 22mm. (Sometimes this watch is listed as having a 21mm strap, but I measured 22mm.) The dial is very easy to read -- noticeably better than other military-style watches I've had in the $100-$200 price range. Numbers 13 through 24 (for military and European time) are displayed at about a third of the size of numbers 1 through 12. The seconds hand, which has a red arrow-shaped tip, makes no sound, for all practical purposes. (I can hear it only if I hold the watch directly next to my ear.) And yes, "MADE IN JAPAN" appears on the face between numbers 8 and 6. I bought the watch (via Amazon) from MOON-DOG. What I received was exactly what I ordered. Service was excellent. When I placed the order, there was a notice that my order would not be processed for two days because of a holiday in Japan. Although I knew this would delay shipment slightly, I appreciated the clear, honest communication. I knew what to expect. But the watch seems to have been shipped immediately after the holiday, and it arrived quickly through Japan Post Service. It was very well wrapped, and the watch, inside a Seiko box, was in perfect condition. I would highly recommend MOON-DOG.

This is a great watch! My hubby can't live without it! very comfortable and the color matches every of his outfits, reliable and a good value for the money he paid. I wish the bands are inter-changeable that's all

I bought my watch in march 2021. And I bought it because of the Seiko name. And that it was made in Japan. It has never been the most accurate timepiece I have owned but I wasn't as concerned about this as much as having a durable well built watch. I wear it daily and till Jan 2022 it was working well. Then it kept stopping so i sent it to the Watchsavings the company that sold it through Amazon. for repairs. The watch was returned at the end of March. They noted dents and scratches on watch. I wear it daily and its a sports watch so I guess it is going to acquire normal wear. With in two weeks of me getting watch back. It stopped working again . I was told to send it back in. They responded back to me that the watch had deep dents and very scratched. They claim it was impact damage and would not repair. They sent me a picture that had to be taken by an electron microscope I thought it was damaged in shipping. They sent me back the watch here's the picture of the watch as it is right now. Definitely not deep dents and cracked glass. I am dissapointed in the watch and service. This watch definitely can't take a licking a keep ticking. I got on the Seiko website and noticed a big difference in the sports 5 that they sell and the one on Amazon. for another $75.00 I bought the sport 5 series automatic w/ winding feature made in Japan .

Fast shipping from overseas. Watch is very easy to read even in low light. Fit was perfect right out of the box. It’s keeping time more accurately then some expensive Swiss autos I’ve had in the past. Build quality is beefy yet slim and you can tell this watch is built well and to last. Can’t go wrong with Japanese build quality and movement from Seiko. Best value for the money if you are looking for a reliable well built automatic movement in a easy to read watch face at an affordable price.

I had purchased this watch as a "Father's days gift to myself, to replace a higher-end automatic chronograph that is not functioning after repairs. Also like the historical heritage to the older "MACV-SOG watch". When I received the watch was surprised to see the Arabic days of the week, although it did not bother me as much. I have a similar Russian automatic with Cyrillic days of the week. Overall, extremely satisfied with the look and feel of the watch. The watch keeps time accurately, and have not had to reset it, yet (it's only been a week so...). Dial is visible at night or mid-day. Overall I feel this was definitely worth the expense.

First Automatic watch. Best budget automatic watch. Have owned Seiko quartz watch and i trust their quality and workmanship. Moreover this is made in Japan and paid the extra premium to get this one. Attached some pics to justify that this is made in Japan. Its been three days now and the deviation has been 1 minute so far. 1 Minute in three days is not bad and given that mechanical watch accuracy is dependent on so many other factors. Like the Lumibrite hands. Its really bright. I couldnt point out one single flaw in this model or may be, its just me. Only thing i didnt like is that all the Original booklet and warranty card were removed from the box. I even suspect the blue Seiko box is even original, cos it had that made in china sticker on it, which is unusual on Authentic box.

Ce n'est pas ma première montre. C'est ma 3ème montre de type 'automatique' (voir photos) que je privilégie maintenant (avec celles à remonter), les autres sont des quartz. Vous pouvez dans mes photos la comparer au niveau de sa taille avec une 35mm Longines Conquest et une Longines HydroConquest 41mm :) Voici ses caractéristiques : mouvement 23 rubis - étanche a 100m - diamètre de 42mm (elle fait plutôt large et moderne) - des aiguilles bien visibles et ses chiffres lisibles façon montre de plongée même si ce n'en est pas une vraiment (10bars/100m environ et déconseillé selon seiko pour des utilisations de ce genre) - luminescentes dans l'obscurité - une couleur alu mat gris sur le devant et ses flancs - un mécanisme visible sur l'arrière - un bracelet textile plutôt large (22mm) à boucle ardillon qui lui permettra de me suivre dans mes voyages et aussi lors de mes activités extérieures (on verra comment vont vieillir les 'pompes de la montre' maintenant le bracelet... il me semblent assez mobiles quand on appuie sur elles...). Je suis plutôt étonné du rendu final de cette toquante car je m'attendais à ce qu'elle soit plus petite et surtout plus 'cheap' : il n'en est rien ! Elle convient quand même aux petits poignets comme le mien (mais limite). je ferme au 3ème trou du bracelet ... Elle est construite au japon (modèle xxxJ1) gage de qualité (j'espère!) : je n'ai pas voulu prendre de risque avec le modèle K1 coréen. J'ai trouvé le prix de ce fournisseur intéressant (livraison en provenance de HK). Le mode d'emploi est inexistant ou presque (et le certificat de garantie n'a pas été rempli - on verra ce qui se passera quand elle aura un soucis...). J'ai dû, pour régler la date/jour après avoir tiré un cran a droite, descendre pour régler les noms de la journée (en anglais) et vers le haut pour régler le jour (amusant : il est possible de mettre le N° du jour à la place du nom du jour). C'est assez intuitif finalement. Je n'ai pas eu à secouer longtemps la montre afin qu'elle fonctionne pour toute la première journée (comme j'ai pu le lire dans les autres reviews). Je n'hésiterai pas à enrichir mon commentaire au besoin (je pars dans quelques jours au Costa Rica) ce sera un bon test ;)

Qué te puedo decir... simplemente, no lo pienses y cómpralo! Es bonito y de gran calidad; me encanta el brillo que tiene la pasta fluorescente, la ventana trasera por donde se muestra el mecanismo es hipnotizante, la correa se siente bien hecha y la esfera está perfectamente diseñada. Te lo recomiendo 100%

I did a ton of research on watches before going with this, and so glad I did. Its the perfect watch for what i need. There isn't a single unnecessary feature on this watch. Pure function and practicality. Completely versatile; work day to weekend, goes with anything. Big enough without being chunky. And i love the darker green of this version. My research said Seiko made in Japan is higher quality as its all made in-house, but you will pay an extra customs fee when picking up at the post office (I'm Canadian and it was $50). But so far timekeeping is impeccable and has been worth the cost.
