DOUBLEDEALERRRRR!
I'm an adult nerd and Doubledealer was one of my favorite Transformers when I was a kid, even though his major points of articulation were that his elbows bent. Really - that was it, his robot arms bent at the elbows. When I saw a new Doubledealer was coming out, reengineered and based on the original, I scheduled in this splurge and preordered him. He's got some new things going on and he's very satisfying. There's a grey piece with some stabilizer struts or something that you can see in some of the figure's photographs - it's involved in some connectivity gimmick with other figures and was clearly a design afterthought, since it does nothing important or graceful for the figure. Since it seemed poorly considered, I'm going to consider it poorly and say it's mostly negligible. Otherwise, he has a few new accessories in black plastic, like a pair of missile pods, some sort of surveillance/tracking/guidance device, and a gun/cannon. They're welcome additions in an otherwise sparse but nigh atomic arsenal, which consists of a massive missile that can split into a less massive missile and a very bulky rifle, much like the original issue. Doubledealer transforms admirably into each of his classic forms, but better. That's about all there is to this Doubledealer - he's everything the ancient Doubledealer was, but better. They had the technology, they could rebuild him, they did, and it was good. Notable casualties in this update include Knok and Skar, the original Power Master engines that accompanied the old Doubledealer. A notable engine chunk can be found on this reimagined Doubledealer in memorial to their loss. The only goofy parts going on with Doubledealer are some awkwardness with stowing the purple wings of his big robotic vulture bird form. There's a new point of articulation here that doesn't quite fold up nice and neat like in the original. Otherwise, I have only good things to say about this Doubledealer. He has met my expectations for a modern Doubledealer.

If you find him under $50, have seen the 1986 movie, BUY HIM!!!
There’s several striking things about this Optimus that warrant his purchase. Anyone who has seen the only *real* Transformers: the Movie from 1986 remembers the infamous scene towards the front of the movie (which you must also buy!). Despite this being a repaint of his “Earthrise” toy (which I skipped- I have plenty red/blue/silver versions), they did an absolutely perfect job with the 3 colors; black, light gray, dark gray, I figured I’d get one while I could. Since arriving, he’s been the most satisfying Optimus I’ve bought since MP-10 (the *huge* half metal one!). Very glad they gave his dead/form a pretty clean look vs the Siege that had far too much “battle damage”. If I had one gripe (aside from availability it would be price. All TF’s keep getting smaller, the prices go up, up, up. $50? For $50USD, his cab and trailer should be at least the size of the original G1 1984 toy. Takasbro can argue about the cost of engineering and materials until blue in the face. There’s nothing besides extra lines carved out of the original that look awkward with these newbies. No reason to charge more than double the price and 2/3rds the size. And don’t blame covid.

Great figure! Poorly Packed
This figure is great, although a bit morbid in nature. It shows Optimus Prime as he appeared as a corpse in Transformers: The Movie (1986). Commemorating the moment a million children were traumatized by the loss of their favorite Autobot, this figure has a newly sculpted battle damaged head and some paint on the left side of his abdomen indicating where Megatron slashed him open with a laser sword. Corpse Prime comes unceremoniously tied down in a plain brown box. The top of the box contains some inked artwork of Prime's chest with the image of some of his mourning comrades reflected in the windshield. Unfortunately, my box was thrown into a larger box without any packing material so it was damaged and torn in two places. I open my Transformers so it's not a terrible deal. Just annoying. Thankfully, the corpse was not damaged in shipment. Incidently, this makes a nice zombie Prime too.

Sleep Mode Optimus
The Earthrise Optimus was a great mold and this "Sleep Mode" deco is great!

the mercenary.
good, but not great. the overall presentation is nice. the best gimmick is the panels he has on his upper arms that fold up and down, changes his faction symbols to autobot or decepticon, whichever you prefer. lots of accessories is nice, but the figure becomes extremely top-heavy when all the accessories are attached in robot mode. all the alt-modes are excellent. missle can store on top and bottom in bird mode. the fourth mode, missile launch station is really cool. the one downside is the legs. the entire assembly is a little loose and completely hollow. theres a production flaw, where the legs attach to the body. theres a slight offset between the two upper leg posts, so if his legs are straight in robot mode, he sort of leans over to one side, which is annoying, but not a deal breaker. slightly offsetting the legs will get him in a straight pose. also the leader class price point is a bit of stretch, hes basically a large voyager, but in scale with earthrise and siege toylines. the parts count and engineering definitely justify the price. aside from the little leg issue, i would definitely recommend this to all transformers collectors. makes for a pretty good toy..

Till all are one.
Optimus Prime was originally known as Orion Pax, a police captain from Rodion. An encounter with a pre-Decepticon Megatron would change the course of his life, teaching him that freedom was not just the right of all "civilised" beings, but of all sentient beings, and causing him to publicly reclaim the name "Autobot", previously used only at Cybertronians as a derogatory term, before the corrupt Senate. After the rise of the Decepticons and the death of the merciless Zeta Prime, he became the Prime, and entered what would become a millions-of-years-long war of attrition with the Decepticons, which would lead to the death of Cybertron and the spreading of the Cybertronian civil war far beyond their homeworld in a push for resources. With the end of the war and the emptying of the Matrix of Leadership to restart Vector Sigma and rebirth Cybertron, he found himself rejected by the returning civilian population, and - secretly gladly - abdicated his rank and returned to his original name of Orion Pax as he travelled through the galaxy. Roughly two years later, however, events would force him back into the Autobots. After killing Nova Prime he proudly retook the mantle of Prime, convinced by Rodimus that he had redeemed it, and seemingly destroyed Shockwave to save all of time and space. In the aftermath, Optimus reassumed his role as leader of the Autobots and led his forces back to Earth in search of Alpha Trion and the Enigma of Combination; before long, however, Prime found himself at a crossroads after his role in the formaiton of Cybertron's Council of Worlds, finding that the religious Transformers who hailed from Cybertron's long-lost colonies perceived all 'bots who held the rank of "Prime" as a living god. Prime initially came to lean on—and, in time, exploit—the faith of others as he grappled with the task of defending Earth from Galvatron's neo-Decepticon splinter faction, and eventually took drastic measures by unilaterally annexing Earth into the Cybertronian Council of Worlds for its own protection. In time, however, Prime would come to realize that his new tactics threatened to restart the cycle of imperialism and violence that his progenitors had committed and adopt a gentler approach, working with humanity and Cybertronians alike to guide Earth towards a better future. Despite having learned from the sins of his ancestors, Prime found himself confronted by the ultimate example of their hubris: the threat of Unicron, a wepaon created by "Onyx Prime—" in reality, a time-travelling Shockwave, who had deliberately engineered the rise and fall of the entire Prime lineage. Despite Prime's best efforts, Cybertron was destroyed, and Orion—shedding the title of "Prime" in his final moments—sacrificed his life to end what Shockwave had begun all those years ago, allowing both humans and Cybertronians to begin anew on Earth.

An excellent addition to the line.
Really love this figure. I haven't had any issues with his legs like some have reported, though when transforming him it's important to be careful due to the double-joint assembly in his knees. All three modes look fantastic, and he comes with some nice accessories. The one flaw I've found is that his elbow joints aren't particularly strong, so putting a heavy accessory in his hand (like the gun that's the back half of his missile, or a Micromaster weapon) has a tendency to cause his forearm to droop. There's a ratchet lock when it's folded to 90 degrees, which works with the gun he comes with but not a Micromaster weapon.

Great playbility and nice Optimus Prime
Great repaint of Leader class Optimus Prime, and good replacement if you are having trouble finding the normal leader class. Color scheme is unique, looks better in person, nice rich greys and blacks. Posability is good. Trailer has nice accessories which can be a back pack for Prime. The headsculpt is unqiue to this figure. Based on Optimus prime when he died in the cartoon movie from 1985. If you already have too many normal colored primes, this is a must have for your collection. Even has Matrix inside his chest.
