I would definitely buy it again. Pay attention to the NATIVE refresh rates!
As with any purchase I did a lot of research before buying this TV in 2016. I tried just about every model at every major retailer and really took my time to adjust the settings in the store. It is still difficult to make an accurate assessment in a store with unrealistic angles and lighting situations. Best Buy had the best collection of quality sets. I was originally going to get an LG despite not having the best reputation for their LED TVs and I wasn't looking to spend the money on OLED. I thought they looked great for the price and their smart remote is supposed to be fantastic. I had/have an older Samsung 1080P TV that has served me well but I always feel like Samsung turns the contrast up too high to the point that they look over saturated. They look good, too good and not realistic. They do a great job of catching your eye when lined up next to other brands. Vizio has come a long way and they would still be in the running for consideration. I actually recommended a Vizio for my parents because of the features and value and because I knew that they would never notice the difference in quality compared to the top tier sets. That being said I am not comparing this to the P series as I don't believe that would be a fair comparison. The lower end Vizio didn't have the best contract and the blacks seemed a little washed out by comparison. As soon as I saw the Sony lineup I was sold. Best Buy was clearly marketing the Vizios and Samsungs but the Sony's just looked better. This is an entry level TV for Sony and I believe it to be one of the best values you could find. I love the interface and flexibility of the Android software. On occasion there is some lag depending on what I'm streaming. It seems to have gotten better over time. What sold me on this TV was the native 120Hz refresh rate. My wife and I hate the soap opera effect. I think it would make me sick if I watched it for too long and I don't have a sensitive stomach or problems with motion sickness typically. I turned off all of the motion anti-blur technology off and that's where this set really stands out. Most TVs, I think all others in this range, have a native refresh rate of 60Hz. In reality that should be fine and if you don't mind or like the smoothing effect then it really won't make much difference to you. For gaming, sports, r action movies the higher refresh rates make a substantial difference. I have a pair of Sony Playstation monitors for my computer. They have a native refresh rate of 240Hz. They are only 1080P but I would never consider replacing them unless someone made a 4K monitor at 240Hz that I could afford. I'm sure I'll eventually switch to OLED when they become the new standard. The remote on this set is standard issue. It has a Netflix hot button but that's about all the more bells and whistles you can expect. Sony does have a voice controlled smart remote that I have verified is compatible with this set but I returned it. I didn't feel like it could replace this remote and I didn't want to have to have two remotes. This TV does have an app but as of the time that I'm writing this review it is no longer supported. It has some basic functionality, that of the included remote. It used to over show times and recommendations. This set is also compatible with android TV remote apps. The sound on this set it pretty terrible but that is to be expected with modern sets. Most people buy external soundbars which I prefer. It adds some flexibility and will almost always outperform builtin speakers. I am able to use the optical out to my Sonos soundbar and use the 3.5mm aux out to a powered subwoofer.I couldn't be happier with my purchase. I regularly get compliments from guests. If I needed a TV today I would still buy the same TV or the newer version of it.

Beautiful Picture
I have had this tv for about 3 weeks so I thought I'd post my first review. When the TV breaks/has problems I will update the review. This TV really does have an amazing picture. It takes a couple days to get used to actually; the TV makes images extremely clear and detailed so its very lifelike. After a couple days it's hard to go back to normal 1080p TVs.I did about 16 hours of research looking for a TV since it's a big decision. Searched TVs and reviews of TVs every night for about a week. In conclusion hear is what I got from it all:In regards to 4k TV and their content:1. 4k TVs DO have a lot of content out now (12/15/15). You can go to netflix and watch tons of TV shows and movies in 4k. I also have amazon prime and there are 4k movies on that too. Don't expect EVERYTHING to be in 4k, but theres enough for me to be happy and Im kind of picky.2. This TV upscales HD content to 4k. It really does a great job upscaling everything, I have another TV (1080p) for reference. From what I researched, tons of 4k TVs that are cheap have really bad upscalers which distort the picture. They are fine for watching content in 4k, but when they try to play 1080p content its terrible. This TV does a terrific job upscaling everything, it's difficult to distinguish regular 1080p from 4k (from more than like 6 feet away).3. Many of the cheaper TVs have bad processors, which tend to die after about a year or just be really slow in general. What this means is that if you buy a cheaper TV you could just be really annoyed by how much time it takes to load stuff or the lag time on the remote. This TV has a relatively fast processor. The input lag is about .5 seconds at most, usually its probably about a 1/10 of a second. Content loads extremely fast (this also depends on your internet, i have 1gig speed which is very fast). I had an issue loading content when I first was using the TV. I called Sony technical support and they answered immediately and fixed it within a couple minutes as it was a simple bug.In summation, I love this TV and it is working beautifully for me. The $1000 is worth it with this TV and if you don't believe me look up the reviews of this series on google and find out for yourself. You will definitely be impressed with this TV and it will take your viewing experience to a whole new level.

This is a very good TV - I bought a second one for my parents.
This Sony XBR55X810C 55 inch 4k Ultra HD Smart television is a very good TV. I've had mine for about five months and bought another one (same exact model) last month for my parents. PROs: The picture quality is exceptional and the sound quality is good without an external speaker set-up. In fact my parents have opted to disconnect their soundbar and woofer and just use the TV sound as it is easier for them. The wireless connection with home WiFi network was easy to establish and accessing Netflix and Amazon Video has been easy after the initial set-up. CONs: The remote control is not a universal/programmable remote and cannot be used to control other devices. I was somewhat surprised by this shortcoming but called the Sony helpline and they confirmed the remote control is not programmable to other devices. The remote control interface with services like Netflix and Amazon Video is sort of "clunky" or burdensome, meaning it is not as easy to navigate / search for movies and shows as with a Roku device. A couple of times after navigating back and forth between inputs and accessing services like Amazon Video and Netflix, the screen has locked up, or the audio has gone out, or the remote fails to operate any functions and I have had no choice but to unplug the TV from power for about sixty seconds to "unfreeze the system" sort of like having to reboot a modem or wireless router. Everything considered, I still think this is a very good TV and that is why I bought a second one for my parents. They really like theirs as well.
